And it's not a demotion.
do you not understand what a demotion means?

Another high scoring game for Miku Akimoto. 36 points from 29 attacks, 4 blocks and 3 aces in 4 sets.

She's very low key about it, and it doesn't seem that much like Miku-ball. When it does (and it bugs me a little) it's not about the number of sets she gets, it's when you can tell the setter isn't really looking around for the best play as much as just thinking "get the ball to Miku" ... which can, and often is, the highest percentage shot, as her kill rate was 49%
Miku is still very mild-mannered. If she grows tough, and increases her mental game, I might invoke the A-word

I was thinking about this also earlier, very different on how Yuzuki Baba carry herself on the court at U16. Captain vibes and all. I was reminded of Yuzuki since she used to be part of this U18/U19 crowd but only 14yo as Asian U18 starter. I miss her here, but I’m glad she was transferred to the younger gen and be the ace there. Yuzuki is 2008 while Akimoto is 2006. My two faves in the HS league, both future Seniors NT imo

How is it not? he's playing for the B team not with Ishikawa Ran Nishida Miyaura where the real action is. Stop lying to yourself
From being not in the national team to back to national team is a demotion? You guys are so funny.

Japan will be in the Finals of FISU World University Games. They defeated Brazil in the semifinals in 5 sets.
Yoshino Sato - 23 points (21 attacks, 1 block, 1 ace)
Sayaka Yokota - 16 points (11 attacks, 3 blocks, 2 aces)
Haruka Oyama - 16 points (10 attacks, 5 blocks, 1 ace)
Sae Nakajima - 11 points (11 attacks)
Ameze Miyabe - 10 points (8 attacks, 2 blocks)

The FISU University Tournament has been fun. I like the squad a lot, but the competition hasn't been that great until the quarterfinals, so it was hard to judge how good they were
Most folks here probably wouldn't enjoy it because they'd have to put up with The Real Yoshino Sato looking strong and confident, and being the team's most consistent scorer
Sae Nakajima has been quietly good. Ameze Miyabe, up and down but overall pretty underwhelming, imo. Middle blockers are on point. Captain Sayaka Yokota and Haruka Oyama (a personal Fave). Tsukasa Nakagawa is the quarterback. Always good
Too bad there are no replays available at the FISU TV site because last night's SF match against Brazil was a showstopper. A full set banger that could have gone either way but Japan kept their cool and let Brazil self-destruct
The highlight was MB Sayaka Yokota. She went ape shit in the Tie Break. I've not seen much like it from her, or most any Japanese player for that matter. Usually when a Japanese MB makes a kill block or a HULK SMASH kill they smile about it and bring joy back to the huddle. Sayaka went almost full Euro Testosterone Bomb
She left her hair hanging all over her face, stomped her feet and jumped up and down ... and then she smiled
It was beautiful
The FINAL against China is August 6th at 5:00am PST (my time), which I think is 20:00 China time. Look at volleybox and it should show the match in your local time

The FISU FINAL between Japan and China is at 20:00 August 6th China Time. It can be livestreamed for free here:
Scroll down until you find it
The site is a little wonky and direct links a little confusing. The match is on Channel 6 and should be here at the specified time:

if i am not mistaken he was invited back this year
From being not in the national team to back to national team is a demotion? You guys are so funny.
Yes, but from A Team to B Team. B Team have just Asian Games to compete. A Team play VNL, Asian Championships and OQT.
From first Press Conference (April 7, 2023), the Activity plan, Nambu Masashi (Chairman of the Men's Strengthening Committee) said he want high experiences players to bring the power of new gen players, gives his own experiences for them to grow up in international level. The Plan is training the athletes who can play an active role at the next Los Angeles 2028, so they have to strengthen and develop the team at the same time. (Target athletes for Los Angeles 2028)
For A team seems like he was not in the plan, base on his stat from V-League, especially his block percentage, it's too low. -

Tsugumi Fukazawa is named Captain of the U21 Squad. That's interesting. And Yuki Iishi got married

Did she marry a public figure?

Kyushu where Saga is located is currently hit with Typhoon Kanun not sure if their next match there will still push through. The next typhoon approaching central Japan is Typhoon Lan which is also expected to be strong but it probably won't affect Kagoshima. Their intersquad match in Kagoshima doesn't seem to be a Mizuno match

Did she marry a public figure?
She didn't mention anything about the guy but very unlikely to be another athlete or public figure because if it was they would've announced it together. Yanagida also kept the identity of his wife secret as she is neither an athlete or a public figure.
Ishii was "legally" married on the 4th but the official ceremony will most likely be later on or next year.
Nishida said him and Sarina still haven't had a proper wedding ceremony. During the holidays they just registered their marriage and spent time with each other's families as per tradition. Kinda odd but that's the Japanese way.

It's a lot more practical if you think about it. Also holding a ceremony or just the reception itself is completely optional. There are plenty of couples who would rather spend all their money on their honeymoon than holding a $30K wedding. It's mostly the Japanese Christians who go all out with wedding ceremonies and they're in the minority in Japan.

Japan U19 lost to Italy. It's not Miku's time to shine yet. Their captain? was also not a good setter. Too bad since I actually like her.... another Tsukuba girl that came up short.
