Brazil Women's NT 2023

  • Well I dont think ZR is considering Juma for the VNL so I think Macris would be Naiane's backup for the first week at least. Or maybe Roberta but I think her season has been more demaning as she's played more sets.

It's true that Ac need international experience as starter but you cannot also force it and make her play 2 weeks or so after her last game, no matter how young she is.

There will be 3 weeks since her last game (she won't play CL final). It is always challenging ofcourse for players playing finals but that's the life they sign up for, which comes with other perks🤷

Well, Praia, Minas and Sesi players are still playing the South American Club Championship until tomorrow and most of them will be joining the team on Tuesday already. The calendar is insane, there's simply no way to build a team for the first week while giving everyone sufficient rest, unfortunately. Gabi is most certainly missing out on the first week because of the CL finals, but I think Ana will be there, otherwise Zé would've called an extra OH.

Here's when everyone is joining the trainings btw:

    15/05

    Julia Bergmann

    Lorrayna

    Rosamaria

    16/05

    Tainara

    Kisy

    Pri Daroit

    Julia K

    Lorena

    Basso

    21/05

    Carol

    No set date

    Ana Cristina

    Gabi

    Lorenne

    Macris

    Nyeme

    Roberta

    Thaisa

The fact that both Roberta and Macris are in the last row means that at least some of the "no set date" players will be there in the first week, because otherwise Zé would have called Juma for the trainings.

  • I think there's two open spots for MB. Lara will have to show she can play at international level, while Diana need to stand up, Lorena is slightly ahead for me.

I really hope they give some chance for Laís to show something, she can put up a fight for a spot If she plays like she has been playing, especially If Natinha still shaking in decisive moments and Nyeme thinking she is a setter LoL, the rest of this 14 roster I think will go this way and I'm happy with that, it's really a good team.

Yeah, MB is definitely the hardest one to predict. I think Diana is very clearly Zé's favorite out of the younger girls, so I would be surprised to see her miss out on the final roster, but Lara and Lorena is a toss up. Lara should be chosen if it was based on performance alone IMO, but there are ofc other factors to consider as well (such as age and the fact that Lorena was with the group last year).

  • I Think That Ana Cristina should play in first week.

  • What a day for Brazilian fans

Ana Cristina and Macris are champions of the Turkish League and Roberta is the champion of the Polish League :super:

  • Update on that: Paulo Coco (assistant coach) said that the team is traveling to Japan on 21/05. It seems like the girls who are currently in Europe (most of the last row) will be flying straight to Japan from wherever they are, which definitely makes sense logistically.

So I think Thaisa and Nyeme are probably skipping the first week since they are currently in Brazil and are not joining the team before 21/05.

Ohhh. Seems like AC and Macris are already training with team.

Seems like the team for week one will be:

OH: Julia B., AC, Tainara, Basso

    OPP: Kissy, Lorrayna, Lorenne

    MB: Lara, Lorena, Diana

    S: Macris, Naiane

    L: Natinha, Lais

  • I was just going to post this. Thank you Maique for doing CBV's job lol

It looks like the teams are:

    Macris / Kisy

    Julia B / Ana C

    Lara / ?

    Natinha

    Naiane / Lorrayna

    Basso / Tainara

    Lorena / ?

    Laís

Roberta said in an interview she's flying to Japan from Poland, so she's going to be there in the first week. I think Carol is going to be there as well because she's supposed to join the team on 21/05, which is the day the team travels to Japan.

  • My guess is that they're playing with 3 MBs as of now, the other one being Diana.

Maybe Carol will be the fourth and enter only if required but the starters would be Lara and Diana I think.

I think Carol is going to start against China. I don't really see the point in making her go all the way to Japan just to sit on the bench. The other three matches are a little bit easier though, so I'm betting on the Lara/Diana duo for those.

  • Now that I think about it, Daroit might have asked for some time off as well. She was also supposed to join the trainings yesterday, but she's nowhere to be seen.

  • Again, Maique doing CBV's job and better.

I must say that part of me wishes that Carol don't join to the team this 1st week and we go with Diana, Lorena and Lara, so they can play as much as they can.

  • Macris and Fofão 🥺🥺

There's a similar meme that Erik Shoji (USA Men's libero) does the same for the women's team.

He's still abroad so no Instagram stories yet. :S
