So Ana Cristina is now back at the training center. That was fast! She's already walking
She just started walking....it gonna take a while...maybe she lose first half of turkish league

I just read an interview with Zé about how they could not do strength training sessions and had very few team practices during the VNL because of how much travelling they had to do. Looking back, I don't think we put enough emphasis on how absolutely insane the schedule was when talking about the team's poor performance.
If we compare Brazil's schedule with the top 3 performing teams at the VNL:
Brazil
Timezone difference:
Week 1: +12 hours
Week 2: -12 hours
Week 3: +10 hours
Finals: -12 hours
Time spent flying: ~95 hours
Turkey
Timezone difference
Week 1: 0
Week 2: +5 hours
Week 3: -1 hour
Finals: -12 hours
Time spent flying: ~35 hours
China
Timezone difference
Week 1: +1 hour
Week 2: -1 hour
Week 3: +1 hour
Finals: -14 hours
Time spent flying: ~24 hours
Poland
Timezone difference
Week 1: +1 hour
Week 2: +5 hours
Week 3: +1 hour
Finals: -14 hours
Time spent flying: ~30 hours
Anyone who's travelled to a country on the other side of the world will tell you that it takes days until you really start feeling like yourself. 24 hours of flying + extreme time differences will take a huge toll on the body. And for elite athletes to do that FOUR times for one single competition is just absurd.
Now, for the love of god, I am NOT trying to start anything with these comparisons. I do not think these federations were deliberately favored by FIVB, nor am I implying that the only reason they did well is because they lucked out with the schedule. They deserved their place on the podium 100%.
But, for the future, I really hope that FIVB never does something like this again. Given the nature of international tournaments, it's pretty much impossible for all teams to have exactly the same travel time, but that doesn't mean that it's acceptable for one team to spend almost 100 hours flying when some of their opponents only have to spend a third of that.

It’s really crazy to have to adjust to the time zones of 10/12 hrs difference each week for 4 consecutive times in a month. If they could have arranged Brazil hosting the 3rd week matches followed by the finals in the US would already be much better than this crazy schedule.
However I think it’s inevitable that Brazil is always the team to spend the longest time on planes unfortunately. Among the American countries only USA, Brazil or Canada are capable of hosting the tournament, all other hosts are always in either Europe or Asia, Brazil has to travel to the other side of the world for most weeks unfortunately.
Just hope the CBV & FIVB can coordinate better to avoid such Europe-America-Asia-America schedule again (even though we know they won’t)

I was hearing Zé saying in a interview that because of this, Brazil had 20 days less of training. That's atrocious. He say that Brazil had to focus on practice and a lot of gym.

I think that all teams that got Brasília were screwed over to some extent, the ones that got Nagoya in addition to that even more so.
I understand that a lot goes into picking the hosts, but even if they kept the same hosts, Brasília for week 2 makes no sense logistically. If they knew that the finals were going to be in the US, they could've kept everyone in Asia for weeks 1 and 2 and then had Antalya and Brasília host week 3. That's much better already.
for those who want to watch the South American Championship
How I wish Lais was playing at the South American Championship, so is Lorena and Lorrayna.
I think the team is looking much better. I get that it's "just Argentina", but you didn't see this kind of fluidity in Brazil's play even against weaker teams at the VNL. They just looked messy at all times (which kind of makes sense considering they couldn't train for 20 days because of FIVB's nonsense).
Also they definitely played better today than they did in the WCH match against Argentina last year, and I'd argue that 2023 Argentina > 2022 Argentina.
Roberta's my MVP. Kisy looks stronger, Gabi's getting her form back and that block sequence at the end from Carol was beautiful, I really missed that.
Do you guys have any replay link? I really miss watching Roberta plays.

So, finally Ze gave up on Macris?
thanks so much
Apparently Macris has been feeling back pains since the VNL. She did an MRI scan and they found things that need time in order to heal, but she said that it's hard because "she cannot stop". She has never felt such intense pains, so she doesn't know how long it'll take for her to recover. She hopes to be better for the IOQT.
So she's been having severe pains... since the VNL... and Naiane was right there... but Macris was still called to play every match... and then after the VNL Naiane was dismissed from trainings... even though Zé knew there was a possibility Macris wouldn't be fit for the SACh and maybe the IOQT too
I was in my "Zé did nothing wrong, FIVB screwed us over" era, but now I'm back to my "literally wtf ZRG" era

I hope she doesn't mess her season in thy. Although nt duties are important, those players are paid mainly by their clubs and they have responsibilities to be ready for the club season. I hope ze wouldnt only prioritize NT but think about his club as well🙄

and Julia is getting her confidence back.
Hmmm Gabi just did a jump serve?? Are we in 2018 lol
So with this win vs. Peru Brazil are South American Champions, no surprise there. I do think the team looks considerably better all around. They haven't really been challenged, but you can still tell.
Gabi's jump serve is surprisingly decent for someone who hasn't done it in what? 5 years? I think she only missed two out of at least 10.
Julia is attacking with more confidence as well, she had some very nice kills today.
I really like Roberta's game play. Seems like she played a lot with backrow attack. Her distribution was great, too. Brazil was attacking from all sides of the court. Thaisa with 17 points was just great. Another one to add on Brazil's extensive list of evergreen MBs.

Voloch said that Roberta is playing with a foot injury and that they haven't ruled out the possibility of a ligament sprain...

Now he is paying the price or not yet?
He should have formed a 3rd setter since was clear Dani Lins wouldn't comeback anymore, something about 5 years ago. Now he might end up with none.
Just let this two woman's rest and take Naiane and Kenya. LoL
In general, Brazil looks much more stronger, you can see by their bodies, they spend a lot of time in gym, and that has increased their performance despite the level of the oponnents.
