Turkey - Vodafone Sultanlar Ligi 2023-2024

  • I just read interview from Tijana father. Galatasaray was first one who invited Tijana Boskovic in their camp and they wanted to give Tijana Turkish citizenship so that She can play for Turkey younger category. But they said no and that Turkish law is strict so that She would needed to change her last name in to “Boškoglu” or something similar…

Same as other NT players as Meliha, Eda, Cansu and so on…

Turkish media presented it as if changing last name was determinating factor for her them to decline the offer, when in reality they as Serbs always wanted her to represent Serbia in the first place. It was just mentioned as that if it was to happen potentially she would’ve needed to change last name.

I mean you as Croat know how patriotic Serbs and Croats from Herzegovina are and always choose to play under Serbian/Croatian flag rather then anything else.. big amount of pride about their nationality/ethnicity

Eda was born in Istanbul (I think) and although her family is from Montenegro she would be granted Turkish last name by birth. And she is Turkish citizent by birth so nothing controversial there.

Meliha is the only example of last name change as her last name is Smajilović and Ismailoglu is literal Turkish translation, but I see that with Matić and Lagumdžija there is no change anymore, although they change Marko to Mert for unkown reason to me.

  • Is Cuttino originally left handed? I mean I havent seen someone using her arm so wrong for such a long time. Either her eye sight is not good or she is left handed, cannot find another explanation.

she’s right handed lol she’s just bad

  • She's originally a MB.

Makes a lot of sense. Feels like she just jumps and hopes the ball hits her somewhere on the air. Also her understanding of volleyball as a game looks very limited. I wonder what happened to the bench opposite of GS.

I mean she was in like 2015 lol. She’s been playing on the pins since then. It’s not like this a new transition

patriotism has nothing to do with it. You have a problem with the understanding of patriotism. You can still be patriotic and represent a different country, no one takes away your patriotism. I don’t need to tell you how patriotic brazilians are. There are at least 6-7 naturalized brazilians in italian futsal nt. Athletes careers are very short and they have to think about this. And i believe that bosko didnt become naturalized, not because of patriotism, but because they couldnt agree on another issues.

  • It is great that İlkin is keeping her great shape from summer, she is turning into a complete all around OH. She always had a supporting role in GS finally she is the leader of her team thanks to biggest flops of league AKA cuttino and Eggleston. Both were waste of money

You know nothing about the subject yet you come here to give stupid comparisons..

What do you know about patriotism of Serbs? especially those in Herzegovina and Montenegro and their identity and culture? Nothing.

That was not the subject of my post anyways but about last name change and examples for it and how interviews are intentionally misinterpreted.. but as always you will find a reason to try to “enlighten” someone about the subject you have 0 knowledge about

  • Ilkin did an amazing job, same for Sude. Cuttino-Logan change came in 4th set and it was already too late. Logan at least can hit a ball.

I think Naranjo is not cut for this level. There are some very simple things he could do in the match:

1- Replace Cuttino with anyone after 2nd set, she was simply useless.

2- When Logan is in backrow 2 rotations with Sude, let her stay on zone 6 and attack pipe. Sude wont attack from backrow anyway and also has better chances for defense in zone 1. With Logan in pipe, you have an alternative to Ilkin in attacking. She could stay in zone 6 even with ilkin in backrow, since Ilkin used to play opposite and Logan is better in pipe.

3- Replace Tashiro in front row with a double substitution. Cuttino can be useless but still a better blocker than Tashiro. It took him 5 sets to notice this and did it in the end of 5th set.

There is a lot more but he really needs to step up. He can't just rely on Ilkin & Sude having such a good day since they both are supposed to be defensive OHs and were best scorers of GS.

  • Mostly I agree with your comments including Sude but I guess you got confused about İlkin with Hande, by saying defensive OH. İlkin is a great OH especially after proving her talents at NT. We had discussions/debates on that in many occasions and her overall performance in receiving Pos% is above 45% but not only that, her Attack success is above 45% and Attack efficiency is above 30% which fulfiils all criterias of a very good OH.

On the other hand, we cannot comment confidently on her defensive skills, which is the combination of Reception+Digs. Inspite of being very good at reception, hence still needs to improve her digs as well. Currently, she is behind Hande and Derya but in front of Ebrar in digs. İlkin's overall digs performance is 69%, which is very close to benchmark 70% and above. All I can say, she is fairly good in defense as well.

This season, her stats (Attack & Reception) also increased more in the league, so what is your benchmark to consider her as an OH in which, very good at both in defense and Attack? In my opinion, you cannot define her just a defensive OH. Currently she is one of the best, reliable and complete Local OH. On the other hand, I agree with you about the responsibility she is taking. If team performance continue like this, it might be too much for her and at some point she might get collapsed.

Some words about Sude. She is not a well known player by many users but I watch (and use to watch) all Galatasaray matches. She is a bench player (180cm) mostly stepped in the court whenever there was a reception crisis. She is from Galatasaray foundation and very talented also having a good spike height almost same as İlkin. She is also talented in using her wrist for technical diagonal hits at spike. However she needs to be more strong and consistent for that spot. I wish to see her at much better level, a very successful OH, both at attack and defense in a near future.

Lastly, everyone thinks about Cuttino is the worst but her alternative Yağmur, who is a new transfer, is worse than Cuttino. All Galatasaray fans went crazy with it.

I liked Heather, not only in this match but in all matches she played. I believe that she will be more productive in the coming matches. So far, her performance is quite stable and consistent.

  • Frantti and Gray are not with squad in today match between Vakif and Ezcasibasi…

Any info why ? I know foreign limits rule but I was thinking Gray is original starter for big matches :what:

    When is match starting ?

edit: Martyna is not with team either :what:

match starts in less then an hour

I know Vakif has to let someone off the roster for every game but I didn’t think it was gonna be Frantti, Chiaka seems like more logical solution like in the supercup since they are most unlikely to use foreign spot on MB.

Maybe they will try to play Cansu/Alexia and make room for more attack through middle eith Zehra and Chiaka since they would have really good passes with Gabi/Busa.

On the other hand Ecza doesn’t have problem with foreigners so that can’t be the reason for Gray to be off the roster for this game, she can be on the bench even if they don’t intend to start with her. Must be some slight injury or she is not feeling well but even then it doesn’t make sense to not have her on bench at least.
