Turkey - Vodafone Sultanlar Ligi 2023-2024

  • wow yasemin. She’s proving her ex team and some YT pundits who claimed she wasn’t mentally and physically ready wrong. Leading the block per set rankings by 1,45.

  • Ferhat is a joke. I am tired of writing this but it seems like everyone in his teams underperforms while we see most of these players shining in the NT with Santarelli. Only Boskovic is doing well but that has nothing to do with him, girl has such a talent that it is difficult to drop under a certain level. If I were any of these players and were asked to renew a contract, first thing I would ask would be "will Ferhat stay?". If he does, I would absolutely leave.

  • Ecz management as a whole is bad. They underperformed under motta for years and they replaced him with ferhat and renewed with him despite the lackluster performances. The only good thing they do is to be able to keep boskovic.

I would say this is much bigger problem then Ferhat. Aside from the fact that managment is keeping Ferhat in the first place, their transfer tactics are a whole mess.
What was the last time they actually signed a player that is top 3 in the world on their position, or at least with potential that could be cosnidered prospect to be future top tier?

    -Boskovic, 10 YEARS AGO…

It reminds me the rumour of Nalan refusing to sign Zhu, who was the best player of the world without a doubt, just because she had to skip some matches to play the national game in China. Then it gave the chance to Vakifbank to sign her and we know the story afterwards lol

Naz is top3 setter although her connection with Boskovic doesn't seem to be there yet

Gray was supposed to be top3 or 4 attacking OH but she is underperforming.

Previously they got players like Larson, Natalia, KYK, Thaisa, Poljak etc when they were at their pick but they still couldn't achieve anything

  • Did anyone really think Gray could be a "hit the jackpot" move for Eczacibasi in a league with much bigger service pressure?

Much bigger service pressure??? Where does this come from? Well we all knew that Gray was not a great receiver but this is a lot even for her. She was never tso bad. It is sure a matter of practice. She was much better in the summer and suddenly became awful.

Gray is a good player for Ecza because she can take responsibilities. She prove it last year with Imoco and now in the final of WCC. Without her has not chance to win something in my opinion.

If you can't even see how much pressure turkish teams put on service, I'm better shut up now on.

  • No Naz is not in top 3 setters in the World. She is pure disaster this season. Maja as 39 years old outplays her in huge margin…

    Even Elif is way better.

  • I think it was more like which league has the better servers. I would say Turkish league too in that case.

I don't trust players' opinions when it comes to such things. They can be the best setter in the world with 20 years of experience but that never guarantees that the player actually knows volleyball (or even cares about it), other than just doing her job excellent and following tactics (which are designed by people who know volleyball better).

A good proportion of players don't even watch or don't even want to watch volleyball matches. That also explains why legendary players do not necessarily turn into legendary coaches. I think they never have the time to reflect on the game in the broader sense while playing and focusing on their own work/development. It comes years after, when they start as assistant coaches etc, that they actually get that experience.

  • Turkey vs Italy. Classic things.

    Not at all.

I just said turkish league has a bigger pressure from the service line (than any other league). I never mentioned Italy. This is my opinion.

And you came back with irrelevant players' opinion. Yours would actually be more interesting, unless you try to sell it as a fact, like you did few days ago.

And crovolley, darling, you have to try harder with your baits and provocations to start new discussions: you picked the wrong person, since I think this season Italy has an overall better level than Turkey. I talked about the service, just the service, and this fundamental is still better in Turkey IMHO. :wavy:

  • Thats exactly where I was confused lol
