2023 SEA Games (May 3–16, Phnom Penh, Cambodia)

  • Now the Philipines fans are attacking the management team. What happened?

To add to what volleyb said, there hasn't been any consistent teams even though they wanted to have a "grassroots" program :wall: Also they're just sending club teams to NT tournaments with a few reinforcements from other club teams. The men and women's national teams have been mishandled badly (especially the men's team that won silver in 2019 ASEAN, most of the roster from that tournament declined their NT call for this ASEAN)

  • That is so sad. Especially on the men’s. They were so competetive 2 SEA Games ago.

You can see the fans supporting the team a lot because we are supporting the players playing for the country but we all pretty much hate our Federation. Personally, If I’m to build a 14-player pool for SEAG, probably only 3 or 4 players from this roster will be retained. It’s that complicated. We can’t send our current best ones.

We still support them though. In this SEAG, even if they placed 4th, they won all the games we expected them to win, and lost all the ones we always lose anyway :aww: No improvement in standing but we can’t expect them to given all the issues tbh

Just out of curiosity I want to know what is the best line up for PHI women team?

This is so upsetting to hear. PHI players and fans deserve so much better. From the little I heard about PHIL vball, apparently there are many university players with great potentials? Did they ever get called to NT?

Yes, some of the best players right now are still in the University (maybe half of the NT roster can be University players for Women's) and they are not called to NT, for various reasons.

Apologies for derailing this thread with all these PH NT conversations, so here's my last take on this: In Men's Volleyball, only 1 from the 2019 SEA Games silver medallist team is in the lineup this 2023 SEAG even though the players before are still some of the best players of the Philippines. Only 1 out of 14 with almost everyone begging off. That alone speaks how bad the situation is :aww:

Primary reason being that the collegiate league isn't in sync with the FIVB calendar. But this is another conversation for another day :drink:I'm quite pessimistic about the team later but I hope they give a good fight to Indonesia :flower:

  • Where else are we going to learn more about the PHI National Team than in a SEAG thread. Please keep it up

PHI will compete again next month for the AVC Challenge Cup (formerly AVC Cup)… if we still have a National Team by that time  Kidding aside, we are going to see VIE, INA and the others compete again next month. Here’s the pool composition…

    Pool A: INA, MAC, PHI

    Pool B: HKG, TPE, IRI

    Pool C: IND, AUS, KAZ

    Pool D: UZB, MGL, VIE

  • Do you still stan Majoy?

You bet I do but I've barely seen her play since the last SEAG :(

Also, what happened to the other MB she was paired with in that tournament? Madayag? I liked her a lot, too. I think she got injured

Majoy will forever be my favorite. I want her to play overseas especially in Japan but it seems she doesn't want that.

Madayag tore her ACL in 2021. According to PT Beth, she is steadily regaining her strength but for her sake she won't be competing with the NT for awhile.

I don't know if it was wishful thinking or an actual rumor last year that Majoy might come to Japan. I would score it fabulous

  • Did Cambodia cut and run? I don't see the match over on that youtube channel streaming all the matches?
