Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2023/24

  • I think Stuttgart is now resting Krystal Rivers in too many games this season. And that seems to be doing her more harm. Her performance is nowhere near as good as in recent years. However, after the departure of Simone Lee and Laura Künzler, she is of course even more challenged. Mirosavljevic and Segura are now playing more and more often in the OH position at the same time. And it's no secret that these two are better at defense than at attack.

Mirosavljevic's attack success rate was an impressive 58% against Münster. Also Segura had very good values the last matches.

Absolutely. And that comes as a very surprise. I hope they both continue to be so strong in attack. Especially against stronger opponents than Münster.

Stuttgart hopes that Vanjak will be in top shape by the cup final/playoffs at the latest. But that won't happen if she keeps getting injured. After all, she still needs some match practice until then

  • While I hope Mirosavljevic keeps up that attacking performance, it's not very likely. She is a very streaky player in general. I would say her defense is probably the highlight of her strengths with a very decent reception coming out of Romanin league and her work with Caprara. She can still have poor nights as well as a lot of errors but her overall skill definitely improved compared to her years in Serbia.

Her attack can come and go which is not great for higher levels but in a team with some clear options on tougher balls she can shine like she did in her last year in the Serbian league where she played alongside Uzelac who was the number one option.

She is very emotional. No matter whether a point is won or lost. Sometimes I don't know if that's positive or negative. When she scores a point she runs across half the field. If she makes a mistake, you feel like she's about to die. I actually like something like that, but of course it also takes a lot of energy.

Yess, 100%. This is probably the root of her inconsistent play. Her reception dictates her attack and the other way around. She usually makes errors in a row because she is unable to focus on the next play and forget about the mistake she made previously. She improved in that aspect during her last club season but based on your comment it seems like it's still a problem for her.
I also like her energy and enthusiasm a lot, but there are definitely moments where she gets too carried away and loses focus.

  • Apparently Hujanen has already left Neuwied, she's no longer on their roster on VBL site.

Considering that Schwerin still hasn't signed another OH despite getting a very good libero and buying a decent OPP out of her contract in the meantime, my guess is that they already have an agreement with Romy Jatzko to join them once Chinese league is over.

also the Home Game from Neuwied against Aachen is reschedult to the 4th january. For me it Looks like their only Play until the end of january.

Some second league pro team might be interested in one or another Neuwied player to hire in the intense fight for the top positions in the table respective against going down back to the amateurs...

  • Cekulaev will start so her shoulder problem from last match probably wasn't too serious.

OTOH Schwerin today doesn't have any backup OH, Grozer is not with the team :what: She might be with Junior NT preparing for WEVZA tournament but in Schwerin's current situation I wonder why they would let her go there :|
