Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2023/24

  • Well...Koslowski called her "one of the promising players in the dutch league"

Actually they took 2 OH because Fuchs is good in reception but not in attack and Schult is good in attack but not in reception. So basically they couldn't find an affordable player who combines both at an ok level.

This shows how "well" I know the league here  maybe confirmed on the U-squad Insta page, Sarah's part of the group that has extra trainings at Papendal each week, like Kirsten Knip does now that she's playing in NL. If Felix sees something in her I have faith, he also had great instinct about Nova last summer

  • ;(

Any words about how long she will be out?

Also here as a note because I forgot it in the first post: The double crack is in the ankle joint. So it's not an ACL. The commentator from the game spoke of a downtime of three to six weeks.

Marisaala, have you actually heard anything about Grbavica and her current injury status? She's still sitting in the stands with Grace at the game today. That's why I continue to wonder what's with her.

I have no idea. In the pre season Waibl said that Berger will out for much longer than Grbavica. So something obviously happened in rehab...

Grbavica is not even on Dresden's team roster on VBL site so I think she might not return at all this season :white:

Potsdam's press tomorrow will release an article which I managed to read before it got paywalled. The club is in major financial trouble because now they have to pay the taxes etc that the previous management avoided by their illegal contracts which means large extra costs. The club management had a meeting with representatives from the city, there are no official statements yet but they need money from the city or their sponsors to survive this season :white::sos:

  • Dresden has posted a report about the match against Neuchatel (they lost 1:3 and were eliminated from CEV cup):

They had to place buckets inside the arena and mop the floor because of the leaky Margon arena (<insert joke about hall name sponsor being a water bottling company here>). They almost had to cancel the match.

Berger started but was replaced by Timmer in set 1 already.

So Dresden in dire straits as well.

  • Yep. The last week was a nightmare for Dresden and might ruin their good season so far. With Straube and Frohling two key players will be out for at least a month. Winter is not a replacement for Straube and Berger is so far away from her former level that it hurts to watch her. So Timmer has to play OPP. But then she is missed as OH.

In terms of setting position, I hope that Dresden signs Meghan regardless of the length of Sarah's downtime.

That's right. The referees had been thinking about not starting the game for a long time. But that didn't happen. And as a supplement, as a certain measure, Dresden SC started on the side where it was dripping. This is actually not the side where the Dresdner SC team normaly starts their home games.

This event puts even more pressure on the cauldron in Dresden when it comes to the Margon Arena. Because it has long been a dispute not only between the city and the Dresdner SC, but also between the Dresdner SC and the second main user of the Margon Arena, the Dresden Titans. The Dresden Titans play basketball in Pro A and want to move out of the BBL in the future.

And that's exactly where the problem lies. If promoted, the Dresden Titans need a hall with a capacity of around 6,000 spectators due to the BBL's licensing rules. That's why people have been discussing what they want since October. Either a conversion and expansion of the Margon Arena with a small increase in capacity or just a roof repair at the Margon Arena plus the prospective construction of a new multi-purpose hall.

According to media reports, there is no official decision yet. At least I haven't read anything about it yet. But in the broadcast of the Dresden Titans' last home game, the local presenter Jan Böhnstedt said that the plans to expand the Margon Arena had been abandoned.

In this case, however, I have no pity. Potsdam has to live with the consequences. Through these frauds, Potsdam also gained an advantage over other teams. Without the tax fraud, Potsdam would probably not have made it to the Bundesliga final twice
