Italy - Serie A1 2023/24

  • Lubian is just proving my point in today match, but ofc 90% of you guys doesn’t watch matches in Seria A so ofc you don’t get it.

Plummer and Lubian in front line with Haak in back row. She is helping so much in attack, She doesn’t need perfect set She is so strong in attack. Wolosz trust her everything looks smoother and faster in the game. And that is Conegliano game.

  • Not me saying Cambi might lack height to play in NT but then she's scoring two block points vs Imoco  five points in total!

Kinda surprised that Santarelli only had Fahr and Robin on the bench from the CL squad, but maybe it's good that they got to build some momentum with the key players today.

  • 2 kill blocks in 5sets is not key. Or 38% performance in attack.

Lubian is killer in attack and her amazing skill from service line is full filling her blocking.

Your favourite Fahr made 0, I’ll take 2 any day :drink:

But about Lubian today- highlighting someone’s performance against such weak teams and making conclusions based on that.. cmon

  • I just finished watching Conegliano-Pinerolo and I was surprised to see the starting lineup playing. After the match Santarelli was interview and said that the players asked him to play because they had a full rest day on friday and didn't want to lose too much rhythm. Another useful news I got from Rai's broadcast is about Orro's: ankle's problem doesn't look too serious and she'll leave with the team for Istanbul.

    Good news

  • One more set and savino is 99% sure to qualify to next cl also milano is in

Unless one of the finalist of italian league be one team out of top 3

  • By the looks of it neither Cuneo nor Bergamo will score points today. Assuming that Bergamo will win against Trento, which is all but sure considering that under Mazzanti they looked less miserable and they're coming off a win against UYBA, all roads lead to Firenze: Cuneo will play against Firenze, a team that hasn't nothing but pride to play for, on the other hand Bergamo has to win, hoping in some turnover from Scandicci and a great performance from the team of the other side of the Arno river. In case both teams end at 18 points, Cuneo should be the survivor if I'm not wrong (they have more wins than Bergamo).

  • Perugia, led by Colombian Opp Ivonee Montano and libero Imma Sirressi, won Serie A2 league and is promoted to Serie A1.

Is this Perugia same club that was legendary 2 decades ago? Or is it a new one from the same city?

I guess you're right.. And this makes me feel very sorry: I've been rooting for Bergamo since ages and I would have never thought to see them in such situation.

Last season they were the surprise of the league (reaching coppa italia final four and the play offs), but this year nothing went the right way.

  • Haak is on the verge of doing the almost "impossible": To hit with better than 50.0% in a single season in Serie A1. She has 50,1% atm this season. I have only recgonized Egonu, Soucy and Betcheva to accomplish this feat or pass that milestone in the past 30 years. Both Artamonova and Sokolova were very close to achive it, but they failed at the finishing line.

Here are the most impressive seasons - in terms of efficiency among OH/OPPs with at least 10 games and 250 attack points - during the last 30 years I am able to detect:

    Egonu, Paola, 58,8%, in 2020/2021

Egonu, Paola, Italy, 54,4%, in 2019/2020

Soucy Brigitte, Canada, 51,2% in 1997/1998

  • Will anyone ever be able to surpass what Egonu has already achieved at the Serie A1? I mean 47 points in a final match with 60% efficiency and 7 blocks!!!

I guess it will be very difficult, at least in case neither Vargas nor Boskovic ever play in Italy. In theory they have a chance to topple her, although for instance 58,8% over an entire season is close to unbeatable.

  • I guess you're right.. And this makes me feel very sorry: I've been rooting for Bergamo since ages and I would have never thought to see them in such situation.

It's sad to see that whenever happens and whoever involves, it gets even sadder when a place with a great history like Bergamo remains involved in such a struggle.

  • Cazautte has been playing so smart.
