S.Korea - 2023-2024 V-League (Women)

  • Megawati continues to be a beast

FYI, Mega in Indonesia has been nicknamed by fans and media.. Her nickname is: Megatron. like the one from Transformer... I don't follow Indonesia volleyball (shame on me as Indonesian), so I don't know the history ...:D

Selling Hwang MK, added injured Go Ye Rim and Jung JY really weakened Hillstate a lot... They doesn't have good bench players to replace them.. I'm a big fan of Hwang Yoon Joo, but realistically she's way passed her time... I also agree Moma hasn't contribute much so far..

Yes. Unfortunately having an injured Go Yerim really weakened their defense. Juhyang isn't an explosive hitter nor a good defensive player so they really need another good supporting OH.

BTW, it seems Megawati is well loved in Indonesia. I read #RedSparks was 1st in Indonesian twitter during their last match lol. And Red Sparks IG have doubled during this time. :super:

  • Who is Pepper's coach? Not only foreign but also young... Where Pepper got him from?

Pepper is still too reliance on Jasmeen, cos they don't have other options.. Lee Han Bi is unstable,

If Altos' MBs can sync well with Pornpun, Altos can have more options in attacking.

  • Hi-Pass got their first win today, their A game showed up finally and everyone played well. No.13 Vanja Bukilić was outstanding with her hitting and blocking and Thanacha too made an impact. :cheesy:

    ...

Yes, they finally started playing well once their main setter was able to play. Bukilic is also adjusting well with the group as OH. Since she was the last pick in the foreign draft, people thought she was just chosen for her height. But she's pretty great so far.

  • Hyundai's team tactics is too predictable. Same play everytime. Also Moma is not as explosive as she used to be, but they can't always blame one player for a team game. GS Caltex though did good choosing Silva despite her age/condition (which was the previous concern - even she admits it).

  • Another five setter? Damn, this league is getting good so far. Tanacha is finally meshing well with Hi-Pass.

I was so hoping Hi-pass would get their second win... they were leading 2-0 and was on the way, but alas, GS Caltex had other ideas :(

It was tricky for me today as the Chinese league had their mid week matches tonite... all seven matches and Hi-pass vs GS Caltex happening at the same time ! I did catch the last part of set 5, when Caltex led 12-9, Hi-pass almost caught them 12-11, then failing to receive 3 service from Caltex :(

Yes I also wanted Hi-Pass to win since they are getting good. But I noticed that in most 5 setter matches, most groups to win the 4th set wins the game. :what:

Whoever who won 4th set probably has the momentum going into the fifth. More so, if they won set 3 & 4. For the other side to come back, coach will need to make the right tactical move and players need to respond. It helps if the coach and/or captain can help to encourage the players and lift their spirits. In a closely fought 5th, it also comes down to who can hold their nerves better... .

Although 5 setters can be nerve wrecking at times, I still love them, especially if the team I support comes out victorious at the end of it
