CEV Champions League 2024

  • Any predictions for fener-milano game? I expected a win for fener before Eda's injury but now without her it will be 60-40 for Milano 🥺

its depend on Vargas and Arina shape, especially that Melissa in last game wasn`t shine. I predict the same as you, 60-40 for Milano.

  • You're quite optimistic about Milano guys, they looked quite bad as lately and the opponent has the right things to mess them up even more.

I don’t know mate. Sometimes sylla plays in god mode against turkish teams. Sometimes rettke blocks the s*t out of us. So the question is which milano are we gonna see

  • If Egonu chooses to compete, I believe it will be 80-20 in favor of Milano.

  • Some people are really jinxing Milano here, lmao. Milano recently lost to Casalmaggiore in the domestic league and isnt looking very strong. They have lost to Conegliano in all matches they have played against them, most of the time fair and square, and the lineup of Fenerbahce in terms of serving and offense with Ana Cristina/Arina/Vargas is certainly stronger than Cazaute/Sylla/Egonu as Egonu isnt even remotely close to her shape from last year. Last year Egonu had 58% in attack (surreal) but this year she has gone out of steam and declined to a way more human percentage of 46%. Milano doesnt have the strongest reception, and in case Fener, with their serving skills, is able to serve on par with their potential this might prove to be critical for the outcome.

First of all, Egonu is Egonu. She is not the most consistent players and everyone knows that but she can score 40+ all of a sudden at big games and win a match singlehandedly, she did that multiple times in her career (in CL final with Novara, also last year with Vakıfbank etc) so I wouldn't count her out even if she's not at her best shape

Secondly, it is true that fener is a very good serving team but they also have a very bad reception lineup when ana Cristina is playing as a starter. So it is also easy to disrupt their game. They can put Meliha in but they don't have a good scoring MB like eda anymore. With all respect to Fetisova (I think she is a great blocker) she is not a dominant attacker like Eda. So the game will be mostly on Vargas and Arina hitting constantly OOS balls.

With Eda I would count fener as favorite but without her, Milano is slightly more favourite

I do not believe it . The OH and OPP will define the match. Sure Eda is important but Fener has also Fetisova. Sure she can replace Eda for some matches. Also IF I remember right she is taller than Eda and probably that means that will have a chance to limit Egonu because when you face a player like her the height is really important. Eda is good but Egonu can easily go over the top of her block and that would be a problem for Fener .

Also please have a faith to Gaspari. There are a lot of possiblities even after so long time to start the match with the wrong players and let Rettke on the bench for example.

That would be immensely stupid! I know he did it in some less important games, but he would be a moron in case he benched her today

I get your points, and in case Egonu is on par with her peak shape, it might decide everything. But Milano has been thoroughly unconvincing during the last couple of months. Besides from losing to Casalmaggiore last weekend, they merely defeated low-tier teams like Roma with 3-2 and Pinerolo with 3-2 and lost points against them. Moreover they lost to Novara at home and to Vakifbank at home etc. I have watched them a lot this season and they are quite poor most of the time.

Cassalmagiore isn't a big name, but they have some really good players and they can beat anyone (except Imoco) if they're on their good day. THY who beat Fener a few days ago may have a bigger name as a team, but I'm not so sure that even though they are equal to Cassalmagiore.

Also, What do you mean Egonu had 58%? It had 48% in TL. Also, especially in this case, we must mainly consider the environment in which Egonou plays. I mean what can you say when two of the three OHs who played in the Italian Cup final each had 2 points with an attack rate below 10% and a negative performance???

The same in the second league game against Imoko with two of the three having 1 and 2 points with 10%. In no top team are there players with such pathetic performances. Basically in no team Basically in no team in general and in Turkey and Italy has oh with such performance. In fact, this year they are much better than last year and they put a lot more technique into their attacks than last year and in addition they take all attacks out of the system.

In addition, she has Orro and Brenda in the setting:gone::gone::gone:. If she had such big responsibilities at Vakif, her game would have looked much worse than it does now, since she was quite protected from her problems there and shared responsibilities with Gabi and Bajema when she came to the starting six.
