Japan has grown in the last four years. This team has taken so long to get to any relevance. They earned this result.
They are a fun team to watch, they don’t complain a ton, what is not to like.

Wow. Japan with a podium finish! Huge win! Ishikawa is phenomenal.
Meanwhile, disappointing campaign for Italy. They've been doing well the past weeks and looked like they were favorites for the gold but it all came crashing down in a matter of 2 games.

Italy follows the pattern from the last year: decent first phase, awful shape in medal games, then they won WCh, now they have ECh at home.
Huge congrats to Japan, amazing performances in this year's VNL, so joyful to follow.
