vietnam thisnis your chance
And why kazakhstan not playing?
-
This one is a little over my head, but I want to try and eek out more coverage and fun for SEA stuff. I'll let folks more knowledgeable than me explain this one as we go
I hope we have some live streams for folks bored with watching VNL
Whose smart idea is to split 11 teams into 4 groups?🤦

AVC and smart ideas go hand in hand, don't they?

And why kazakhstan not playing?
As far as we know, they didn't give any reason. Maybe it's because they were beaten by India in the recent Central Asian Women's championship, and didn't feel confident enough to join
Last year they also withdrew from a few tournaments at the last minute.

The winner of this tournament will represent Asia in the following tournament...
➡️ 2023 FIVB Volleyball Challenger Cup - Women (July 27-30) in Laval, France
And the winner of the above tournament will be promoted to the VNL...
➡️ 2024 VNL
Countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia have made it clear that joining the VNL is one of their key objectives and consequently, they will send their strongest teams to the AVC Challenge Cup..

It was 12 divided into 4 pools (still kinda stupid :D) and then Kazakhstan decided to withdraw.

Also, when adding this tournament to volleybox, a comrade and I went back and forth between adding it as the 2023 version of the AVC Cup or making it a new tournament. I take responsibility for making it a new tournament even though it is (kind of) the next generation of the AVC Cup
Key info for me is the fact that since this tournament is off limits to teams who already participate in VNL (since the endgame is participation in VNL), it is something different and AVC Cup is done, no longer happening
Please correct me if any of this is wrong

The only difference between this roster and the SEA Games one is they replaced Libero Le Thi Thanh Lien with Nguyen Thi Kim Lien. I think Khanh Dang would remain their starting libero.

Here are abstracts from an ASEAN Volley Gossips posting in FB. What do you make of this...
I read from the comments the fans aren’t happy at all
The players hinted by that columnist is likely false or atleast only partially true. But yes, Philippines will be sending a totally different lineup because our league starts at June 27 and the big clubs are rumored to have declined to release their players. It's not a surprising thing because as I've said in our SEA Games thread, I'm not even sure if who will be sending in the next tournament because that's how it is in the Philippines unfortunately
I hope that list is false. There is a newer rumored list and that is quite better than the first one. Creamline Cool Smahers (half of the SEA Games roster - Carlos, Galanza, Valdez, De Guzman, Domingo, Gumabao, Atienza) will not participate based on the rumors.

Philippines can actually rival Vietnam and make the Thais a little bit nervous if they were only serious about this national team. Every international tournament which they sporadically join, they send different faces. I'm not sure why their pro league is not in line with the international calendar.
