    Regular Round begins October 21, 2023 (Saturday) and ends February 11, 2024 (Sunday). Matches are played every Saturday and Sunday. Winter Break is December 4, 2023 to January 6, 2024, but they are playing matches the weekend of December 23–24, 2023 -- which is weird considering the Empress Cup is ...

    • Teams play each other two times. Double Home Game Weekends are not being done this year. But there are two matches per venue most nights which means fake home games will be rampant

    Wins --> Points --> Set Rate --> Scoring Rate


    Final Stage February 25 to March 3, 2024

    • Top 6 teams from the Regular Round advance to the V-Final Stage
    • Teams ranked 7th-12th in the Regular Round keep that rank and are finished playing
    • The Top Two teams from Regular Round hang out until ...
    • Teams ranked 3-6th in the regular round will play what V.League calls the Quarterfinals
    • Two losers of the "Quarterfinals" will play a 5th place match
    • Two winners of the "Quarterfinals" will play the Top Two teams of the Regular Round in the Semifinals
    • Winners play The Final Match, Losers play for Bronze

    V Cup Regular Round March 9 to March 31 ... V Cup Final Round April 6 to April 7

    • 12 teams divided into two groups duke it out Round Robin Style
    • Top two teams from each group advance to the Semifinals
    • Winners play the Final Match, losers play for Bronze

    I'm embarrassed for the Uni East girls. They just lost to Brilliant Aries who are supposed to be in rebuilding mode not to mention they are playing with B Team of who's left :white:


    But it's nice to see Yuka Sawada doing post game interviews. And Nanami Hirose is there


    AND, thank you to this tournament for correcting several Uni player names I had wrong. The trickiest one was 呂比州理紗 which I waffled around with Risa Ropesu. Turns out she's Riza Lopes. Next was 川崎鈴奈 which I had as Suzuna Kawasaki. Turns out she's Reina Kawasaki. Important to get that one. She was Captain of her Uni team as a freshman and I've picked her as a Candidate for NT if not for some lesser squad. She's a banger and a half. Good serve, good blocker, too. Coaches must know something I don't :lol:


    Also, just from the starting lineup I also had Mion Hirose as just Mio Hirose, and Ririka Funada as just Rika Funada

    Hitomi Fukumoto is still playing setter for Kurobe. Next thing we know she'll be middle blocking


    She did just serve two lollipop aces in a row :rose:

    I hope Juna Kikuno from GSS Tokyo Sunbeams wins the Fresh Face award because ... you know why :heart:


    GSS is giving Kurobe a very hard time


    Too bad Akane Ukishima doesn't have much of a chance to play her way into Kurobe lineup. She's slaying it here in Summer League. She's never gotten much chance to play in her career from Hisamitsu 2015–18 and Kurobe since then. She was one of the first to Transfer Hope away from a good team she couldn't get playing time on to a lesser team she still can't. I'm surprised she's still hanging around

    Kurobe has withdrawn. They beat the Sunbeams earlier but are ditching the match against Saitama later "due to poor condition of the players" and are not going to play tomorrow's matches

    FUN FACT

    KIRO OMURA


    Kiro Omura is the first player to ever be a champion in both East and West Summer Leagues. She champ'd with the West's FISU squad and champ'd with PFU in the East


    Sub fun fact part B: PFU played the tournament with only 8 members rostered. New recruit Kano Miyaji was the only backup and I don't think she ever actually played (but I didn't watch all PFU moments and there are no stat sheets)
