Japan - V.League V1 (Division 1, Women) 2023-2024

  • PFU has only 12 dressed players and Valdes is not one of them. I forget who posted the theory that she is boycotting until she can leave, but it's seeming more plausible every day. She hasn't really played much at all since ... mid last season?

  • Riho Ōtake has a surprising amount of boom in her chuck

  • Nice to see Moeka Kinoe finally get to hammer a few home, 6/8 so far. She's peculiar. Starts her swing early and fully commits to it. Up to the setter to put it in the right place for her. This is the girl who won Best Spiker AND Top Scorer with Manami Mandai in one Championship during the Tsukuba Glory years

I don't understand something. Kurobe middle blockers:

    Maki Yamaguchi 7/14

    Reika Sato 15/25

If your MBs, in Japan V.League, take that many swings and kill 'em at that rate, and Derya and Pimpichaya are on your team, you should win the match. No questions asked

  • I think everyone myself included fully expected this season to be a NEC vs JT situation since all the aces are present and Koga's face is plastered practically in every promotional shit for this season. I'm glad Saga isn't flopping that badly. Not expecting them to win but hopefully they don't get sweeped so they can maintain that 2nd spot. Also hoping for babyhead Kitamado to get more court time.

  • Position Movement Chart after Today's Matches

If Hitachi wins their next match, they will hold 6th, if not Toray will jump them on points

Okayama with a <5 set win, would jump Kurobe into 10th.

  • If Victorina distributed Inoue/Airi to Toray, Shibata to NEC, the 2 of them can easily be stealing spots in the NT next year and Inoue can put people's minds at ease that she deserves that starting spot over Mayu. But nah they have it way too easy.

Another thing is that Koga is currently in rest mode for whatever reason and that's okay however if she won't play an active role by Empress Cup it's not gonna look too good for her by next year if NEC sinks below the top 5. Remember how Koga toppled Ishii pre-Tokyo. Koga can't afford to miss out.

  • Remember how Koga toppled Ishii pre-Tokyo.

I don't know if someone already posted this in the NT thread but Ishii shared in her book Crybaby's Smile that in 2019, she developed Rotator Cuff Tendinitis and some kind of hip pain which she says was a symptom of a different problem which affected her agility. Hisamitsu experiencing a fall from grace during that time frame was a factor for sure but that's likely the reason Nakada decided to push someone else instead of her.

I don't know Koga's case it could be for the same reason the typical "conditioning" or a different reason entirely but I don't think we should collectively lose our minds over her not playing for the time being.

a gentle reminder every now and then as to where all this will eventually lead to. koga has yet to yield results in the nt and awards where they at? nowhere. the biggest fear is to not qualify. koga's position and role in the nt should therefore be challenged this season. she said it herself it's a race to paris now and she's not exactly running.

It's the lack of leadership charisma for me. She just doesn't look and act like a captain. In other teams, you can almost always tell who's the leader. She's just... meh

  • I miss wargirls

    me too

  • Wow, Keito Saiga served a major curve ball on Fukudome and aced her. That ball must have danced three feet side to side :serve:

  • Hitachi libero has to be one of the shortest players to ever play V.League

  • I love this big tank who comes at the end of sets for Denso. She delivers, too. Hitting about 50% on the season. Couple blocks
