2023 SEA V.League (August 1–11, Vietnam and Thailand)

  • Wow Indonesia is very competitive in this match, despite not having their captain.

Indeed, there’s not a lot of difference between the four teams...that’s why the matches are exciting to watch :cheesy:

I’m looking for live streaming with English commentary, if you come across any, do post them here....thanks 🙏

    * I usually post links to the Thai speaking ones, just because they’re easy to find 😀

  • Philippines vs. Vietnam

    Live action

    Here

Do you think there will be youtube links? SEA fans usually comply :) I'm going to need one to download later. I gotta focus on the FISU SF to check the competition who Japan will face in the Final

  • Vietnam B team is …:sos:

What do you mean B Team?

  • bench players starting in the second set

    Ah, okay. I didn't see

  • ylang ?

Ytang. She had a breakout year last collegiate season, her sophomore year. Still quite raw, but very promising talent at least in the collegiate level. I'm not expecting her to do well, but I would like to see how she would adjust in the international level.

We are not expecting even a set win regardless if opponent starters or bench players played, but this is a great experience for these players. I expect Bella Belen to move up in the Seniors NT in the future, IF we'll ever have a legit NT  we don't have a real Team A, the federation just chooses whoever is available or whoever they like per tournament. It's our 3rd set of NT this year :rolll:

Playing a different team, for each tournament gives many more players an opportunity to experience international volleyball...but I feel they should at least field the strongest selection for one or two major tournaments, otherwise we’ll never know the true strength of the Philippines. I’m thinking maybe...the Asian women’s volleyball championships end of the month ? :/

With how the federation has been for the past few tournaments, I doubt they'd send a strong selection, they could keep this current team and maybe add a few more players, or just invite Creamline (the representative from last AVC iirc) once again. And even if they do send a good team, the current Brazillian coach isn't exactly the best coach that the Philippines can offer.

Edit: I'd like to be positive though, and will continue to hope that they begin inviting more of the best players across collegiate and pro level and get a competent coach.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that Brazilian coach part of some package FIVB granted to PHI a few years ago?

Yes, kind of a grant from FIVB to select developing countries. Other countries had coaches from FIVB also at some point. We all do not like the coach and his selection. Both in NT and the club team he coaches now have questionable roster selections and bad performance
