So good! Vietnam did it!!!!
19th Asian Games - Hangzhou 2022 (23 Sept - 8 Oct 2023) - Women’s Volleyball Tournament (30 Sept - 7 Oct)

Vietnam repeats its victory over South Korea as it did in the recent Asian Championship in Thailand, the team won 3-2 with the last set at 15-11 at the Hangzhou Asian Games, came from behind, trailing two sets. Good fight!
But basically the two teams are at the same level, they can beat each other every time.

I'm glad I didn't tune it lol. Ceasar and Park Jeong Ah are really bad, as coach and captain. Why did Pyo Seungju not play in the 5th set when she's been their go-to player? I hope our next generation of players really step up. They should make up to their fans next year for putting them through hell.
Congrats to Vietnam for showing what grit and hustle means. Anyone know if they stream their league online?

It's the most exciting match at so far, where's Aryka and throwawayanyway ? lolsss
I was too invested in the match I couldn’t do anything else
What a comeback for Vietnam. They once again weathered the Koreans’ tough serves, clever shots and hits. The MBs stepped up when they were needed the most. OHs, OP, and Lib were solid. Oanh had quite a few tough sets, hoping she’ll get back on her best form soon.
And once again, Vietnam did the thing with 2 setters on court, one in front to block and set, one in the back to serve and defense. So odd but it worked out so well for them. -

The Viet league will be very very short this year due to the national team working overtime on all these international tournaments. It has and will be streamed on YouTube, Facebook, or somewhere else online.

About the 2 setters in court, I think it could be because the OP and MBs tend to hit cross court toward the setter in the back, and Thoa is a better floor defender. If Thoa (or someone else) can dig and Oanh sets in the front, it will throw off the opponent’s blockers and defenders because the set then is at a much faster pace compared to a typically slow and predictable back row set from all the way behind the 6ft line or an awkward MB’s set in the front. They have to sacrifice an OP to run this strategy, but when you have 4T and killer MBs, you can afford that. If this was Kiet’s intention, then hats off to him

Occasionally teams have 2 liberos in the court, one in normal jersey... but if you have Thoa who can set and dig as well, why not.. any strategy that works is a good strategy 👍👏

Watching TT WS SF-2 WANG Yidi vs HAYATA Hina via CCTV-5 (needs CN proxy)... interesting to observe, in the Asian Games, the Japanese names are written with the surname in front, like all the Eastern Asians incl. Vietnam. Asian people should keep this in mind.

What do you mean? Isn't that how they normally do it in Asia?

Normally when folks write in English they will write Hina HAYAKA, follows the dictate of the language. Just check around.

I've seen it both ways, but still fail to understand your surprise or your point ... unless I'm reading more into what you wrote than you intended

I see. You quoted the Japanese source, of course they will write the way they use it: Surname First-name. I meant those Western publications, they will put the surname at the end. Or in the international sports, depends on the host. In particular this Asian Games, because the host is China, East Asia, they treat the naming order as it should be -- the Asian approach, regardless the language used.
