Italian Women's NT 2024

  • So non sense for them...it was all at their hands...they were doing fine and regularly at NT but they showed lowest performance this year....Omoruyi never came back after injury

Regarding Omoruyi, I don't think hier problems are only related to the ankle injury...

It seems to me that, especially at the end of the season, the girl showed many symptoms of impatience, she was even kicked out of the team...

I hope she just needs to refocus and get back to work with serenity, because she is a talent that we cannot waste...

  • Gaia  she might indeed give more of a contribution than Nervini. Also happy to see that Spirito gets another shot, she did great as backrow sub in week 1 and since Moki is back that's all they need from the 2nd libero :super:

    I'm very happy for Giovannini...

She would have deserved a call-up in previous years too, but that idiot Mazzanti always preferred the useless Guerra and D'Odorico...

There seems to be lots of drama within this team.

pietrini also had the same issues before.

I like her as a player, probably not so much outside the court.

I don't want to believe that such a rich and professional organization as the Italian volleyball association didn't think to employ high-level psychological and mental care for these players...

    You are right...

But I don't think there are no dramas in other teams...

We Italians are just less good at keeping them hidden... In fact, I would actually say that we like to talk about it...

    :D

Additionally, Italians can`t play one goal in every area of life. In sports can`t for cooperation on the following lines: clubs - national team - federation. Everyone only thinks about their own interests.

  • She's not NT material anymore...

She made a bad season after the WCH in Imoco but this season was just pretty nice. She just played a few matches due to the fact that she had really stronge inside competition in her position. She could help the team a lot. But even if she was terrible, Velasco could choose at least Perinelli who can actually do something .

Mental health is not as "progressive" in Italy as it is in other countries. Nonetheless, i'm sure all federations have psychologist consultants.

I just feel sad to see great players like Pietrini get limited by injuries and lack of mental toughness.

  • I hope Bonifacio would get chances to show her current shape, I still think she should take the 3rd mb spot instead of lubian given than Bonifacio could show her real potential. To me, she is a better blocker than lubian

Which one of Spirito and fersino would get the second libero position do you guys think?

  • Which one of Spirito and fersino would get the second libero position do you guys think?

Spirito can make it if she can play a good week. She looked better than Fersino IMHO.

Considering how dry our OH pool is looking in the near future, Giovannini is one of the girls I'm crossing fingers to see them evolve in some sort of Caterina Bosetti type of player. Not much power, but good skills and solid back row plays. That of course if we can field an healthy Pietrini (or a player like Pietrini).

  • A list of the 13 men and women for Paris has already been posted on the CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) website...

I don't know if it's an error, a spoiler or what else, but the list for the girls is this:

    https://parigi2024.coni.it/it/…ciplina/14:Pallavolo.html

    S: Orro - Cambi

MB: Danesi - Lubian - Fahr - Bonifacio

OH: Sylla - Bosetti - Degradi

    Opp: Egonu - Antropova

    L: De Gennaro - Spirito

So three OH, four MB (with Bonifacio presumably who will be the 13th in the hotel in Paris) and Spirito preferred above Fersino...

    Let's see...

  • Doesn’t look trustworthy to me as for now.

I mean the men’s side all Laurenzano, L. Porro and Sanguinetti are listed…

Mmm but why? L. Porro is locked for Paris. It is surprising that there are only 3 OHs but considering thay Fefe always plays Michieletto- Lavia and this VNL Porro occasionally. It wouldn't be too crazy to think that Fefe wants to take Laurenzano as a backrow specialist. And Sanguinetti as a the +1

I'd say these squads, especially a male one, are very trustworthy: L. Porro is a 3rd OH all season long so 12-13th spots are between Recine, Sanguinetti and Laurenzano. Taking 2nd libero and 4th MB as an alternate (considering health issues by Russo and Anzani from the recent seasons, and 4th OH being non-existent in Italy as a rotational piece) is something very plausible.

Not saying that's the case for sure, but these lists are surprisingly specific for being completely random. I don't know about Spirito over Fersino part though.

I think it was pretty clear from the VNL week 3 that Velasco prefers Spirito over Fersino. And his choice is backed up by her performance which has been superior than Fersino's. Hell if MDG wasn't her, I would put Spirito in her place. She has not been having a good tournament so far.
