Kiraly got his starting roster wrong. If USA started with Skinner and Plummer, China may not have won this match.
China still has the same weaknesses in service reception and defence.
ZT, much much better alternative to WYL.

I might be wrong, but I think China had already beaten USA in the Olympics. They got the gold medal in LA 1984, Lang Ping as MVP.

Thanks, your information drove me to dig a bit, yes, you're right that the Chinese team beat the US team 3-0 in the Gold medal match of the women's volleyball in the Los Angeles Olympics 1984 while lost 1-3 in the group match.

I noticed that local broadcast (China’s tv stations broadcasting the Olympics games) advertisements do not have the women’s volleyball NT as product endorsers . The blame for the failure of the women’s volleyball NT during the Tokyo Olympics was due to excessive endorsements . It is a pity that endorsements of the NT especially LLY and ZT (who we know are the pillars of the success in most of the cases) is affected by this event.

Just to liven up this thread... as well as a reminder not to miss the entertaining light match 😁 I hope the team will field some substitute players ZCN / WMJ GY DX ZYX... resting the main guns LYY ZT GXY YXY/WYY 😛 if those players not playing against France then they may have very little show time or even completely meaningless presence in Paris... anyhow a good kick-off feeling after the 2021 Tokyo doom, unspirited event 🤕 far from satisfactory the current coach, but the team made good decision to leave out WYL, call in ZCN and WMJ and ZYS (back-up)... just no WYL shows the right thing in place. Now hoping the diesel engine will be getting better by each match, up and up!!! Let's see how far the team will go 🙏🏼 (with guarded optimism & high hope)

I hope they won't take the French team lightly. If they played like they did in set 3 vs USA they gonna be in trouble. I don't know what changes Cai will make, I only hope that Zhuang YS will have a chance to play. Maybe she can replace Zheng YX. Nothing much can be done if you have a clueless head coach like Cai. Perhaps the other coaches or even the players can advise him

Sloppy at times. This team needs to learn to keep their leads. Hope Zhu is fine.

Best wishes for the Chinese team, wish the team will redeem its total failure in Tokyo OG, and overcome the Turkish team, now reinforced by Melissa Vargas! I hope Zhu is fine. I also wish Serbia will overcome Italy as it did many times. If Chinese team advances into SF, better to face Serbia than Italy. I don't care about Cai Bin but care for the Chinese team! At least I hope the team will be on podium, also a sweet medal farewell to Zhu in Olympics.
