  • China best chance of getting to the podium was Tokyo Olympics. Too bad a handful of the core NT players were injured especially ZT. If All were healthy, there was a big possibility 🇨🇳 could win. This Paris Olympics, the players were not as good as they were perhaps most have past their peak and they are not physically injured free.

Call it a "fate" factor, "virus" factor... if the Tokyo's event was held on schedule in a normal world, the outcome might be quite different. Keep in mind the country was among the very first victims (along with Iran), and faced very serious threat, I call it an existential one at that time, it almost collapsed the whole nation and its economy in the worst case scenario. Enuff said. Just forget not.

  • BREAKING NEWS

According to a Hong Kong forum, there are reports Cai Bin will not renew his contract to continue as head coach of the NT... :dance6::drink:

Instead, he could become the head coach of a club team ... Shanghai =O

🤮 I never want to see Cai anywhere near a NT team, youth team, club team or any team EVER AGAIN !

  • The stacs of China against Macao, China and Chinese Taipei:

Dong Yu-han is still an OH and Li Yu-shan is the substitute OP.

  • In the East Asian tournament final group B match China lost to Japan 2-3. However both advanced to the SemiFinals. It's a wakeup call for the team. Their reception and passing were weak and the setter performed poorly, which meant hitters had to deal with many OOS balls. They need to improve on all aspects to have a chance to win this tournament :/

I'd give the setter mad props for running all over heck and still popping it up to where someone could whack it. Her sets were high enough, and she basically put the ball in the same place whether in or out of system. Thought she fed the middles pretty well, too. The problem is when anyone but her gets second contact. There were some typical U20 defensive question marks but I think the firepower is there to compensate for them. My fave of the pins is #2 Dong, but they all score about the same (kudos to the setter for that, too)

I love Dong! Her hairstyle reminds of that of the 80s. Like a tomboy mullet cut, in a good way.

Dong has to share 2 OH spots with Guo Xiangling and Li Chen Xuan, it would good if all three could start, perhaps with Dong as opposite. Not saying Fan Boning is inept, in fact she's a much improved player compared to her performance in the u20 Asian event, but somehow you feel Dong is more effective in handling OOS balls :/

They could also try Guo as a receiving opposite and keep Li and Dong on the outside. Heck a four passing system including those three and the libero will still lead to overpasses and errors. Lol. Need more practice with that skill.

Sometimes I think they have problems with their eyesight, I hope not but they... the setter or others seem to pass the ball too close to the net, too far away, too short or not high enough. Yes the above-mentioned 3 players can deal with OOS balls most of the time, but a few accurate deliveries would be nice 🙏

  • the rally at 24-24 with defense specialist Feng Linlin making a couple big defensive plays was what gave China u17 the fire to finish the set.

Huang has potential, long and lanky with springs in her jump. passing is a work in progress.
