Chinese women's NT 2024

Any ideas of the final roster? Cai Bin really screwed up big time so I got zero expectations. He never developed any young players while playing the same group of starters to death. Bench's playing time is pretty much nonexistent. He made Zheng Yixin, a MB, play OP, where she had no business of being one. She should have kept playing MB. Too many other blunders to talk about. Anyway here are my picks.

OH: Zhu Ting, Li Yingying, Wu Mengjie, Zhuang Yushan

OP: Gong Xiangyu, Zhang Changning

S: Diao Linyu, Ding Xia

MB: Yuan Xinyue, Wang Yuanyuan, Gao Yi

L: Wang Mengjie

Reserve: Zheng Yixin

The reason I picked Zhuang is because we need to build for the future. Even though she won't be getting any minutes, it will be a mental booster for her if she gets selected.

I think Zhang Changning is a way better option than Zheng Yixin for OP. Plus she can also play OH.

Ding Xia should have been dropped a long time ago but she has more experience than other setters whom didn't get to play much at all. I think the setter position is our biggest weakness. Yao Di would have been my choice but she is not playing right now for the NT.

Gao Yi over Yang Hanyu because Yang is a poorer version of Wang Yuanyuan. Other MBs didn't get to play much so experience matters again.

I picked Zheng Yixin as a reserve due to experience again and she can play as a MB or a sucky OP. Cai Bin just let everyone else rot on the bench during these 3 years.

I know my picks will not happen 100% and Cai Bin will select Wang Yulun. She should come in as a sub serve only. Anyway it will be all up to the players if China can win the gold medal. Cai Bin should be gone no matter what happens after this Olympics.

I think Xu Xiaoting should be there instead of Ding Xia. Backup should be Wang Yunlu because at least she has use for serve and defence in the rotation that the middle is scheduled to serve.

All of Zhu, Zhang, and Li can hit from 2. the coach is just not letting them and insisting on playing a middle at opposite

Good choices but Xu didn't get much playing time so it's pretty much 1 setter and 1 questionable setter. I think other OHs can do whatever Wang Yunlun can do. She only has a serve advantage IMO. No need to have so many OHs. The only position I don't like is having Zheng Yixin as OP. And of course Cai Bin as coach is the most terrible.

It’s sad that if any of the core players are not able to play, there are no options as most are on the bench and have no international experience as a team.

I agree, ZYX should not play OP and is not needed in Paris.

As long as the everyone stays healthy, everything should be fine on paper. No repeat of Tokyo is all we could hope for. Knowing Cai Bin would play the same core players to death and everyone else are just spectators and cheerleaders. So the backup selections don't really matter in my opinion. They are just there as filler according to Cai Bin. I just want to see something non Cai Bin like for a change. No more Wang Yunlu starting, no more Zheng Yixin playing as OP, and add more young blood to the mix. Is it too much to ask for?

The problem is that he has creative ideas that are wrong and is trying to prove himself. Who in their right mind moves Zheng Yixin to opposite?

Hi everyone!

I've been keeping up with the VNL and I must say week 3 was a showdown! The teams fight in the reverse sweep against Turkey was amazing to watch! The match against Poland where they slowed down Stysiak was methodical. I think overall the teams starters are equipped and ready to go. The only problem is that other than outside hitter, the bench isn't deep. Still having trouble finding a suitable substitute for Gong. Not sure why one of the OHs wasn't utilized there instead of Zheng. I love Zheng, but she's not contributing as a slide attack opposite. Yuan and Wang YY is such a strong duo and have become consistent this year, just wish Gao Yi got more opportunities for experience.

Some of you may have noticed I've been quiet around here lately...well, WYL packed her bags and was ostensibly leaving the team which meant now I've nothing to criticise/complain about

Anyways, I urge everyone to stay calm and don't over celebrate first, it could be another one of Binny Cai's tricks, playing the sympathy card for WYL. However, I suspect WYL herself made the decision to leave. Perhaps she saw the YT clip showing Zhuang YS's back row attack (set 3 with Japan leading 18-17) then realized that even she (Zhuang) may not get selected
