Imo almost always an Olympic champion comes from the death pool. The moment that you can lose. 4 points with at least a victory might be enough to going as one of the best third teams. If you had 3 matches and can’t collect at least 4 points. Fair and square you might not going to take a medal.
but volleyball in both genders had become so balanced that would be a pleasure if we had the 2 pools of 6 teams back. Way more fair and simple. -

I don’t think that being in basket 1 or 2 will matter that much for Poland. 33% chance of getting France is not such an amazing buffer tbh considering it would be more beneficial to get a weaker opponent in quarterfinal than in the group stage. I don’t think losing matches on purpose is a way to go… outside of that random time pre-Rio when winner of Dominican Rep - Puerto Rico match was going to play in much tougher Olympic Qualifier tournament with top Asian & European teams and the loser with the African ones. Still can’t believe how Kwiek decided that he wanted to win that match
