First of all, congrats to both them. Both of them have delighted us with a master class of pure vball. Volleyball back from their roots. It was such a pleasure to watch it, especially the long rallies. Sure, there were mistakes, but the level in general was pretty high.
As almost everyone has point it out, I was expecting a 5th set Japanese defeat, cuz it has been the trend. Kudos to Manabe and his girls. It was a mammoth effort, also in the psychological side.
For Brazil, what surprised me the most is why Macris avoided to set to the MBs during the long rallies. Many times she set to the pins when the Japanese block/defense was already waiting for them. We even saw it in the last rally. Surprised Ze didnt push her setter to keep forcing the MB attack (sure, not as she did at the beginning of 5th, it was super expectable and not good sets). Likewise, Brazil didnt push so much with the serve when Japan was , on paper, with their worst receiving line.
Once again, congrats to Japanese girls and their fans. To Brazil too.

Japaaannnnn congrats!
Although the real winners of this match are neutral fans like me, what an epic battle
-
Btw, how could no one even mention Kojima in the entire match here? She’s not only incredible, she’s insane!
-
I hope the Gold match delivers because this match is the Match of the Tournament
-
Bronze medal for Poland!!!
-
Brazil BRONZE tomorrow!

Well, one day Japan was going to win one of these tie breakers. Congratulations to them, they played amazingly in defense and their attackers were simply better today when it mattered the most.
The nerves really got in the way for Brazil, maybe they were feeling the pressure of being the only undefeated team. It's frustrating for sure, but they've grown a lot in this tournament and we have many positive takeaways for the Olympics. Hopefully they'll come back stronger in a month.

I'm praying they play like this at Paris!
Who do you think will be in the NT?
S: Macris, Roberta
OH: Ana Cristina, Gabi, Julia
O: Rosamaria, Tainara
MB: Thaisa, Carol, Diana, Luzia
L: Nyeme
13th player: Between Natinha and Helena.

I hope that Ze gives chance to Tainara and Kisy fight for the spot. Didn’t put Thaisa on court. Try to win the match but with bench players.
I think pretty much at this point Tainars is locked for Paris. There's no other tournament to test Kisy. It's an irony that she was the Superliga MVP and Tainara spents most of her time on the bench.
As Dani Lins said, NT is not Superliga.

Every time I watch Brazil and Japan, I always feel that Brazil will prevail in the end.
I think that Japan finally found a lineup that can play well against the big teams. Wins over Brazil, Turkiye already this VNL.
Can they stop Egonu? If they can, I think that they have a good chance.
-
japan finally won a tie breaker against Brazil. They've lost all of their previous 5 setter matches against Bra.
I was expecting Thailand to cheer for Japan more, being as they're from the same area, cheer for each other kind of thing.
But they cheered for Brazil.

Gabi is super popular in Thailand so...

I think in their last 5 matches, most of which were 5 setters, Brazil always won. I didn't watch after the 2nd set because i also felt like Brazil will win. But wow. Japan can take this all the way. Maybe they can find a chink in Egonu.

Zé should have tried to make Natinha an OH. It could have helped a lot in this match. I think that this was something that he could have done.
Imo (not what I wanted):
Macris / RobertaRosamaria / Tainara
Gabi/ Ana C. / Daroit / Júlia B.
Carol / Thaisa / Diana
Nyeme
13th: Luzia
I would take Natinha instead Daroit and Helena as 13th player. -
If Japan plays like this tomorrow Italy wont have a chance. The service pressure and defense from Japan was out of the world.
-
Japan continuing the tradition of ending match streaks lol.
Wada is such a good catch in the left side. She is so chill and efficient. She just do what is needed. Also, shocking how Koga played this game. She shifted as towards an all rounder this match AND while she was not hitting well initially - she really defended well. She was practically the target of the BRA serves until they got Ishikawa napping on hers. Her hitting really became effective when BRA moved their focus towards Wada. Also, amazing performance from Airi. She always had some problems with blocking (always been ticked by spikers) BUT she really found her footing this game. She and Wada was the game changers of crucial runs of Japan in Set 1, 3(?) and 5. Also, MANABE was coaching and strategizing this game. First time, I saw him do so MUCH changes in crucial moments AND it worked. -

I would take Natinha instead Daroit and Helena as 13th player. Please not Daroit! She's like the female Mauricio Borges
Better to bring Natinha, Luzia and Helena than Daroit, Kisy, Lorenne

Japan had just knocked out Thailand in the U18 Asian SF a few hours ago, maybe they were angry at Japan

Thais has always been Brazil fans. The same crowd as last VNL in Bangkok.
