Do you think a sane adult would approve of Karakurt's actions? Of course no. She acts extremely unsportsmanlike towards the other teams. Sometimes the other team does not respond to this, and sometimes there is no response, as is the case today. Personally, I do not support the provocative actions of the other side, and it is not possible for me to support them. But I must admit that it adds color to volleyball. In other sports, if tension rises between the two sides, this makes the game exciting.
However, it would be unfair to criticize Karakurt only for her actions on the court. She is openly experiencing his sexuality in a radically Islamic country like Türkiye, and this is the first time in Türkiye's history. Outside of volleyball, the government and Islamic supporters constantly attack him for her sexual identity. That's why she has so many supporters. In fact, a global brand like Elidor even made an advertising campaign based on it. I won't go into too much detail, but in summary, Karakurt makes provocative statements against those who hate her not only in volleyball but everywhere. She has developed a defense mechanism. Her life is quite difficult and I can understand her at some points. She sees volleyball as a show on the court. I don't think she had a bad attitude towards any player she shouted at on the court. In general, her teammates like her very much. As I said, it is not possible to support his provocative actions on the court, but there is a big “but” behind it.
Dear Tunc, I can see that you are trying to defend Ebrar with BUT, but there is no but. Nothing could be a reason to this kind of Psychedelic harmful attitude.
1- You are saying that, "She is openly experiencing his sexuality in a radically Islamic country like Türkiye" which is completely wrong statement. First of all, Türkiye is not a radically Islamic country. Of course, there is a pressure on Türkiye by radicals but this doesn't mean that Türkiye is a radical country. I don't want to go further into politics deeper.
2- What is the meaning of "openly experiencing his (her's) sexuality" ? The very big majority do not give a damn about her sexual preference and me neither. All I want to see volleyball, not stupidity. I don't care whether she is heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or whatever she is. In sportsworld, we see many men/women with different sexual preferences and nobody gives a damn. It could be only a magazine material. No one is pushing her to share anything but If that is her strategy, then no reason to complain about anything. More or less, you may get similar reaction/critics in every community but in sports, more important is; her performance and personality and not her sexual preference.
3- You are saying that, "she has developed a defense mechanism. Her life is quıte difficult and and I can understand her at some points". Have in mind that, this is a team sport and her attitude impacts others moral motivation as well. She can chose to play tennis or any other sports individually. She can do whatever she wants and penalized individually but this is team sports and further that, she represents Türkiye with the jersey she wears in NT.
4- You are saying that, "he sees volleyball as a show on the court. I don't think she had a bad attitude towards any player she shouted at on the court. In general, her teammates like her very much". Yes all sports are also considered a show but she is trying to play psycho one woman show in a team, which impacts negatively both her teammates, opponents, all volleyball fans and usually harmful particularly to herself. ı don't care how good she is in her personal life or what she does outside. All I know and see that, she doesn't feel any responsibility, which is again another problem.
5- The day before, she was pathetic in both ways, her performance and attitude. She became double pathetic.
6- In order to see respect, you should show respect to whole environment, within and outside the court. I wrote this before. As Atatürk said " I like the sportsman/sportswoman who is intelligent, good athlete and having moral/ethics. Moral/ethics is not in between two legs. It is in the head. This team is one of the most important symbol of Modern Türkiye, representing the whole nation and we are very proud of it. No one should allow any person to demolish it because of irresponsible stupid and egoist attitude.
A week ago or so, someone tried to attack on her while she (Ebrar) seemed to be cool doing her job and I reacted upon that it was so unfair to dig the same hole. Now I can see that, she became a loose cannon again, not predictable and I feel regret about it.
Someone has to take an immediate action upon this. A very strong warning or whatever is needed to be done. The team is more important than a player and good reputation is more important than any point scored. If she needs a very strong warning, it should be done now. Some idiots are using her stupid attitude as a tool against Türkiye. Everyone should feel proud of their countries and their NTs and not try to find excuses to stupidity, no matter who or what the reason is...
