Eurovolley 2026

  • so they did not want to lose on purpose, they just did not want to win

Losing intentionally means you are deliberately dropping the ball or making mistakes. Whereas, if you are not putting in your full effort, you are still doing your best, but maybe not at 100%. There is a fine line between the two in my opinion.

  • Group A teams had lots of hard matches and tested. I think all 4 teams from Group A will eleminate Group C teams. Although I like Belgium very much, Germany has big chance against them.

Slovenia after their surprise win against Germany didn't look so strong anymore in their last couple of matches, I don't think they'll beat NED. About GER-BEL, even though BEL is slightly favourite for me right now, I also think that Germany has a decent chance there to cause an upset.

  • throwing a match just to play a team that has knocked you out of 3 of the last 4 tournament is funny. I hope boskovic can make them pay

  • :lol::lol::lol::lol:PLEASE:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Seriously??? Look, I don’t know how it is in Poland, but in the U.S., there are completely different laws for an intentional act versus a negligent act. Negligence means being careless, whereas an intentional act means doing something deliberately.

But I wish Poland all the best!!

In volleyball, if you’re careless with your reception, you lose the point! What do you mean by “intentional”? You didn’t expect them to leave a gap when the ball was coming?

So, you agree with me, then, that Turkiye did not lose intentionally, contrary to what others are saying. They were careless, whatever the reason was. Maybe they were tired, didn’t care about the outcome of the game, or thought that regardless of who they played in the semifinals, it wouldn’t matter. So, they simply didn’t exert their full concentration or effort. Or are you claiming Turkiye intentionally lost the game?

  • Poland now plays Portugal in 1/16, Portugal!! They weren’t on my list to advance. And I’m totally not aware of their history, is this a historic result for them?

I read on Instagram that Portugal active the first victory in current ECH

  • Tbh I think during this EC Serbia looks better than Italy… I honestly don’t think Italy will win this if they continue with this Antropova as an OH experiment. they should just stick with Nervini IMO and relly on solid reception/defence/double sub like in last years.

I also think Serbia looks better and more balanced than Italy right now.

By deploying Antropova as an outside hitter, Italy’s reception and defence have become messier and more unstable. This lineup has inherent weaknesses that can be well exploited by any team with strong serve and organized block-defense, such as Turkey.

Italy’s issue is that Sylla played an important role at last year’s World Championship — she was the real MVP of the semi‑final and final matches. Yet we have all seen how poorly she has been playing lately. Nervini, too, has underperformed since the VNL, even against weaker opponents. With this OH lineup, Italy will not go far either. I am glad Kate is being tested as our offensive outside hitter. It may cost them the European Championship, but honestly, it is a price Italy has to pay.

Yes, it is historic! They just got their first two wins ever in a final tournament, and now they are in the Round of 16 for the very first time

Lol, it's not like OHs are the strength of this Turkey team... Sylla has been actually playing well the last few matches, and Antropova as OH causes issues in defence, but add strenghts on the attack. So, if it's teally worth is still to be seen.

I wouldn't say Sylla playing well, here is Sylla's attacking statistic in the group phase

    vs Croatia 16 / 4 / 2 12% efficiency

    vs Sweden 11 / 5 / 2 27%

    vs Slovakia 25 / 9 /2 28%

    vs France 25/ 7 / 4 11%

Average attacking efficieny is 19.48%:what: She is doing good in serve and defense tho. hope she can level up in the knockout phase.

first league return team Vilsbiburg in Germany hired two Portuguese nationals - for the first time IMHO - they hire often latinas, mostly from South America, but also from Iberia

  • Now that the preliminaries are over, one thing is for sure: the tournament has not been boring :super: A lot of five set matches, weaker teams causing a lot of trouble to stronger teams even though only few of them could close it eventually, overall a high intensity in many matches, very few boring/clear matches.

    Surprises so far:

    - Latvia, even though they didn't qualify to the next round, pushed some teams much more than expected and without any big stars other than Levinska performed very well

    - Greece finishing 3rd in Pool B is quite surprising, considering they're even missing some players

    - Belgium so far looks in much better shape than during VNL

    - Portugal beating Spain and Romania wasn't expected

    - France after terrible VNL and missing Cazaute also looks much better now

    Disappointments:

    - Germany has looked weak so far, but I still have some hope for an upset vs Belgium

    - Hungary has looked VERY weak

    - Ukraine being eliminated is a major surprise for me. Losing against one of BUL/GRE would already have been bad, but losing against both was very unexpected

    - Spain and Romania both could/should have played better

I just hope that we won't get all the boring 3-0 matches from now on and the rest of the tournament will continue to be interesting.
