Japan Women's NT 2024

  • According to Aera these are the top 4 all time Japanese female aces

    1. Motoko Obayashi - The First Miracle 182cm. Participated in 3 Olympics

    2. SHIN - "Japan's Energetic Symbol". Participated in 2 Olympics

    3. Megumi Kurihara / Princess Meg - The 2nd Miracle 187cm. Participated in 2 Olympics

    4. SAORI - The 3rd Miracle 185cm. Participated in 4 Olympics. Holds record as the youngest to ever participate during the Athens Olympics.

Out of the 4, only Shin has been out of the spotlight

  • If her performance hadn't declined after the Tokyo Olympics, she could’ve been in Italy instead of Seki. If they truly want to transition to a Euro volley system, they need a taller setter who can deflect outside hitters, and she’s the best candidate to invest in.

She went through a slump the way Miyashita went through a slump post-Rio. She admits to it in this article https://nishispo.nishinippon.co.jp/article/847540

I don't think many people knew how much hate she got after Tokyo even more than Kurogo did and there was that crazy cunt that kept harassing her and tagging her all over IG sending her death threats to give up her position. She didn't have the type of support that other players did so I'm sure it was hard for her to be motivated afterwards.

  • Aside from Saori these were all players way before I got into volleyball but the majority of us here can agree that Saori introduced most of us and the world to Japanese volleyball hence the Japan Way's obsession with all-rounders. Her predecessors were not all-rounders.

  • for the shorties it's

    Hayashi > Shin

shin was a specialist much like shinnabe so i dont know why she's in this list. shin's block timing was impeccable and considering she's a real shorty not even within 170 her vertical was probably the most mindblowing thing for someone of her height. Also if she had been born during the millennial to the now gen z era she wouldn't even stand a chance at making the b team.

  • Tf's wrong with koga was her butt glued to the chair while everyone stood and waved their lil flags. She was literally in front of the banner with Japan's name on it looking extremely miserable:lol: It's raining so I get it but girl you're retiring make the most of it

she was the only one who was sitting down looking like a lost kid or sumn

  • Finally :!:

  • stysiak and korn were pretty much tied in points so it was them relentlessly attacking while japan only has koga functioning to a fault. ugly U-G-L-Y strategy

  • They were able to tool the block in the first two sets until Korneluk became a wall and Stysiak followed suit in offense in the middle of the 2nd set. Korneluk literally gave those long runs that ultimately lead to their sets.

JPN has some few endgame runs but its too late with POL just two to three points away from the set. In addition, JPN had good leads in the first few parts of the latter sets but always squander them with unnecessary error and times it with Korneluk going in front. Their errors are so glaring especially for a team that is fighting a whole lot of factors against them. Not a good start tbh. They again got flustered easily yet again.

  • I feel like Manabe is the wrong coach to take full advantage of Wada and Airi. They're both players that are just weirdly off in this team like they got something alright but they aint showing much. I think Wada should've led the offense not Koga and I feel like 2 allrounders facing off stronger taller offensive players will never ever win ever
