Japan Women's NT 2024

  • Yeah thanks for stating the obvious Airi. Who knew this would be a new chapter

  • i mean it sounds like she might have a more important role during the turnover. thats why she's an ambassador and not let's say hayashi.

we all know sekita is a huge part of the men's nt

sekita is the main setter of the men's team while airi isn't even main anything. i like airi but she hasn't contributed enough for her to be captain. she could be captain in the future but not by la28.

we also don't know what this team will be made of. nothing is confirmed other than mayu being the new face by default. its a good thing none of the key players from paris has had any injury so far.

Airi should play as OH instead of MB she's not going to get any traction with her role as MB especially with the very limited skillset of Japanese setters ESPECIALLY if Seki will be in charge.

  • Japan requires the captain to be an ace or someone of Erika Araki's caliber and the only one currently appropriate for that is Mayu. The last time they had a low level captain was Nana Iwasaka and she got so much hate because she was Nakada's pet.

  • Airi's entire career has been avoiding having to pass or play floor defense

  • It should be fine if they were to choose different captains i.e. Shimamura or Squeaky Auntie before LA and if they qualify then Mayu will undoubtedly be captain. Just so the pressure isn't all on her. There's something so nauseating about Mayu when she takes on too many responsibilities like she did at Toray. The last thing she should do is play like she can do everything the way Koga did.
