Serbian Women's NT 2024

  • You always forget Marija Miljević 😁 she beaten every of our setters in direct duel. Can come handy if GG want to play faster. Also he mentioned her after vakif game.

Only bad thing, she cannot use middles.

Also I think Mila Djordjević deserve call. She can make 5-10 points easyle as a setter. Left handed, good server, good blocker and good damn spiker. She learned a lot from Drča.

I could have added Marija Miljevic for sure, I wouldn’t mind if she was there eventhough I would much prefer Perovic as she is potential for future starter…

And true, I forgot that Guidetti said that she played great when they took set against Vakif, I prefer her over Jaksic anyways

Mila Djordjevic is a big no no for me, sorry  I can’t watch that much mess in games

I also think Sara Rankovic could be option for wide roster or training camp at least for Guidetti to see her, she has been so solid whole first half of the season.

And all those aside, my biggest wish was to include Baic but I know she is too young and inexperienced for this level

  • Uzelac was MVP last night in 1/4 of Brazilian cup match against Osasco (2nd ranked team in Brazilian league)

I don’t have official stats but her passing was phenomenal. In 2nd set especially, she passed over 10 balls and 90% of them were almost perfect, without getting aced even once in 5 sets (as far as I remember).

Serve was constantly putting preasure on enemy reception with more then few negative passes and few overpasses. Most importantly very consistent without many errors, unlike this summer with NT.

She could be real deal for Paris, not that I doubted her in any moment but didn’t expect the development to be so rapid. She defenitely proved wrong all the people who doubted the statistic which put her as top 3 OHs in terms of passing % in the league.

If Pusic is back to shape where she can cover big space on reception then we might be able to play Uzelac/Brankica or Uzelac/Lozo in Paris.

I think she is paving her way to be definite starter in Paris if she continues like this :super:

  • I need to find that match in youtube:love::cheesy:

Little recap about U20 team. First time we cant blame our federation, they send best possible team. Our opp had really bad night and we lose in 5 and that's it. Coach Vasovic had nice rotations during tournament, only wish he tried Danilovic as OPP in finals when real opps struggled.

Maybe is even better that we will play one more tournament, team is pretty much new with 5 new players compared to last WCH.

Ana Mihajlovic - OH and our best player, there is not much to be said about her, i wish setter know better to set her in 4.

Simona Mateska - OH 2, she had nice tournament, probably received better than expected, nice choice to play with Ana

Elena Baic - Setter, much better than our "tent" setters, but she make to many mistakes, most of the time when she want to play attractive and to toy with opponents, wish someone work with her more, she have potential but need to polish basics first, sets to 4 are her biggest disadvantage

Milica Vidacic - OPP, had ok tournament and connection with baic was good, but she was terrible in finals, idk if this is pressure thing, but she have physics to be top opp

Masa Kirov - MB, Top blocker of tournament, her attack was also good in most part of the tournament, when set is good of course

Lana Mijacic - MB 2 and our only slider, her first competition with team, she is very good attacker even when sets was not perfect

Visnja Zigic - L, biggest surprise of tournament, she was amazing. Its nothing new that she is great defender, but she finally improved reception

    __________________

Djurdja Stanojevic - MB, statistically best blocker of tournament, her only problem was that she play same role as kirov(and kirov is much better attacker)

Mina Stanojevic - OH 3, good tournament, little struggled in finale but she is def our 3rd choice for a hitter, much stronger swing than mateska but shorter

Dragana Korolija - OH, only big shame for coach, she played only 1 set and she deserved much more, she is at least 4th OH of this team.

Sonja Danilovic - OH 5, played much more than she deserved, it would be better use to try her as OPP

"Little Lara" Zigic - L2, good defender and nice choice for second libero, she had good tournament

Anastasija Ivkovic - OPP 2, for me in better form than Vidacic, i think she injured something and missed semis, maybe this is reason why she was also bad in finale.

Teodora Krickovic - Our dear captain and Second S, i dont know what to say about her, nothing more than just bench, but at least she is not starter anymore.

jelena  Cofi  Bogdan i expect few words from everyone.

  • After we missed chances last year to go with iconic lineup's, and actually won some trophy, i don't care about U NT results, but only about potential/progress that individual show during competitions.

Baic - girl have potential and at this age, also having in mind position, that is more important than her actual performance, which obviously wasn't good. She tried so hard to impress everyone, was even too "creative", but she has a nice basics, her tecnhique with much more training could be classy and lead her to great level. It's not sure bet ofc, but it will be interestinf to see what will came out of her.

Mateska - my opinion about her is unchanged, high and positive. At times it still looks flabby, a lot of training is needed especially in terms of strength and explosiveness (both movement and swing).

Mihajlovic - i was so hyped about her, her pure volleyball talent is undeniable. She was great on moments during this competition also, but i have to say that her progress is pretty mediocre, and that is not just based on this competition, i'm following her in Srem and she is not convincing at best. One more positive is that she expectedly slowed down with her overemphasized reactions. Great potential but we will see.

Kirov - great statistics and when the set is good that is looking really good. Her blocking technique is just disastrous but somehow it works. She is like a pilow in any other way, she has no reaction in covering attackers, and that few over net attacking attempts says a lot about her techniques.

Mijačić, Đ. Stanojevic - Interesting players. Mijacic really good slider, surprised me.

    V. Žigić - nice potential, better defender than receiver, not Pakic/Gocanin level.

Vidacic, Ivkovic, Danilovic, M. Stanojevic, even Korolija - good enough to be part of this team at youth stage but nothing more, not interesting players IMO.

*Vidacic is just tall, she actually has no physics to be top Opp, slow, clumsy, bad cordination.

Krickovic is one more awful setter in our youth level program.

I don't know much about Lara.

  • My biggest take from this tournament, same as the last one in this age group, is that Danilovic should’ve been played as OP.. or at least tried.

Baić- I think she had amazing 2nd and 3rd set in finals as I said. Overall her sets to 4 were messy this tournament but so far she didn’t have huge problem setting to 4 to be listed as “weakness”. Still very raw talent and with practice she will be top level setter I’m very sure of it. Her setting style fits much more with youngsters and she has brains for it, very creative and very solid technique. Not her best tournament yes, but she was really shining at moments with unexpected, great sets from different positions. She’s got courage and I’m excited for her future.

Mihajlović- She is better passer then I thought, but that’s about it compared to last 2 seasons. Very little progress in attack but she has angles and power, will need more work.

Mateska- I pointed out last season that there is something about her. She had some very nice swings even over the block, I like that she is being given space to grow in her club as starter although she ain’t doing amazing. I think her and Mihajlovic are def the best duo of this generation. She had better tournamnt then last summer and is much more reliable attacker. Above all she is tall, jumps high and isn’t bad passer so she could be option on senior level in few years.. she even attacks with more power now.

Višnja Žigić- If we had won, I would’ve chosen her as MVP. Great reactions in defense, she is on every ball and is much better reciever. I don’t agree with Bogdan that she is not on Gočanin/Pakić level, I think she very much is and could be NT libero in 5-6 years (probably more). She was great defender even last summer when she played in older generation. I wish she changes club so she could have more chance to grow as player. Overall great tournament for her, she is my new favourite libero amongst youngsters.

Vidačić- here I will have to agree with Bogdan. Not really as much potential as I thought and I thinks he is just worse Zelenović in a way. Same disadventages and even shorter, jumps lower, has very little variety in attack. She wasn’t great even last summer but I still had hope, but it’s very hard cause she shows very little progress imo.

Kirov- I like her, I know her disadvantages but she has potential it’s undeniable. And she somehow makes it work eventhough she has bad timings, movement and position in block.

Mina- she is okay, not some outstanding potential but she’s good.

Korolija- She should’ve been given more chance, I’ve become big fan of her since last summer.

Other are okayish (except Kričković)... Mijacic is good slider and Djurdja is good blocker, not really potential for NT in future but they aren’t bad. Lara Žigić was good last summer but Višnja is just a lot better. I prefer Ivković over Vidačić at this point.

This generation could show more, I’m sure of it.

  • Based on final game against Turkish team:

Baic is bad, trying to hard to be 'creative' she needs to get the basics first. Her sets were not only bad for outsides but also for middles. If she is next in line as young setter, you guys are in trouble

Mihajlovic: liked her strong jump serves, she is definitely talented but doesn't give the same star vibes uzelac did.

Mateska: I liked her more than mihajlovic, her weird armswing is just so strong👏👏 she looks fearless. I could see her being a senior NT player in a few years

Vidacic: very bad, basically another caric for you guys, pray everyday that nothing will happen to Boskovic because all opposites from new generations look like they will be a worse version of even bjelica

Kirov: she is so clumsy, she get many points because of her terrible timing. She looks so confused all the time. Maybe this was not her best game since I see volleySrb is praising her, but based on what I see she has a lot of fundamentals to work on

    Mijacic: not bad not great

Zigic: might be best player from this generation.

  • Mihajlovic - i was so hyped about her, her pure volleyball talent is undeniable. She was great on moments during this competition also, but i have to say that her progress is pretty mediocre, and that is not just based on this competition, i'm following her in Srem and she is not convincing at best. One more positive is that she expectedly slowed down with her overemphasized reactions. Great potential but we will see.

I think biggest Mihajlovic problem is that she wasted 2 years in average and not ambitious club. They dont play europe, they are always just a meat for other clubs in playoffs so she barely played some derby or important match. They dont even fight for relegation, so she is always in comfort zone.

On the other hand, Mijacic and Mateska grow a lot during Zvezda european journeys.

  • well damn reading this I thought we lost the game 3-0 lol. I didn’t know it went 5 sets….

  • Vidacic and Caric are from the same club

Kirov scored a lot yesterday with bad sets, imagine what she can do when ball is good. :) but yes, she need to improve other volleyball skills, she is not good with ball control

Zigic played a bit against Novara last year.

About Uzelac - Mihajlovic compassion, Mihajlovic is just 2 years younger but have much less big games experience. This is main reason why she didn't have same type of impressiveness, but talent is there. For example Uzelac played vs Eczacibasi as just 17yo. Mihajlovic need to change club asap.
