Poland - Tauron Liga 2024/25

  • Wenerska knows how to play with middles very well. On the other hand Szewczyk's and mostly Nowicka's sets to the middles are terrible. They use them only when the reception is really tight at the net and are very imprecise.

I would say that it’s not even issue with setters but with MBs. Rzeszow has 3 NT MBs while BKS has only Pacak which is also very inconsistent. Yesterday it’s was mostly Korneluk show which showed how a good MB can change a game.

of course, but I would risk to say that if you switch Pacak with Jurczyk/Centka and she plays with Wenerska-she would have attack % similar to theirs. I just don't like Nowicka's game with the middles. Orzyłowska was a beast in attack in Opole and now she is benched at the end of the season because she can't reach that level. Nowicka tends to ignore the middles and set them only when she really has to because the ball is tight. Her connection with Pacak has been bad all season. In this aspect of the game for me she is way below Marlena/Wenerska/Grabka.

  • Someone wrote on Twitter that Nowicka won't get a call to NT. We will see. If she will have bad season in Brazil, I think that we can forget about considering her as someone who might be a part of the polish NT, I am not saying first setter, even as second I don't see a big chance for her.

But maybe she will thrive in Brazil? Time will tell. Do you know who will be a setter in Minas with her?

Nowicka will not be called up to the NT as long as Lavarini is the coach. She knows that very well.

I think she has a perfect attitude for a setter, but her technique is so poor. I don’t think she has a chance to ever play in NT.

I don’t understand how somebody could think that Nowicka could be ever the first NT setter or even a sub…(?). I’m sorry but I will be a hater in her case.
I can’t listen in TV „today we’ll have a battle between 2 NT setters, Wenerska vs Nowicka, which will take the spot after Wolosz? ” - Julia does not have even a half of the skill that Wenerska has. There is some kind of blind hype about her but more talented setters are met with silence.
If Lavarini will not call her it will be a sign that we have an awesome coach which is not under somebody’s pressure, has own style, vision and voice.

He won't call. For many reasons, he's not in the orbit of interest. There's no Nowicka topic in the NT.

Literally a few weeks ago she was at a photoshoot in the NT shirts. Why was that if she is not called?

I’m not a big fan of Nowicka’s game this season and of course Kowalewska, Wenerska and Grabka are better but who else should be called if not her? Both Janicka and Bińczycka who were with the team last time played very poorly this season. Nowicka was also the part of the NT a few times and played during VNL so I don’t see anything wrong about calling her NT material.

Amount of 3 setters is too dangerous considering that Wenerska would like to take a break, so I would invite Partyka just for the trainings, thanks to her height she may be very useful in blocking, but she played only a half of the season after coming back from USA, so probably Lavarini won’t be interested in her. Siuda and Szewczyk will play in junior categories so I can’t see any other options.

  • Yeah I’m not a fan of Nowicka and find her to be really overrated by some Polsat "experts" but it’s not like we have a lot of setters who could replace Wołosz and both Wenerska/Kowalowska (who are both over 30).

None of the youngsters like Siuda or Szewczyk are even close to take over so we need to see what is Lavarini’s plan. I think he will look at Grabka, Nowicka and Bińczycka (whose season is not bad tbh, whenever Opole’s reception was not terrible which happened not that often her sets were actually quite fast and precise). I’m still lowkey hoping for Łyczakowska to get the call but she’s so unlucky lol

Lavarini will reportedly split the team into an A and B team.

Team B is set to meet for the first time in early May, where new faces are expected to arrive and testing will begin.
