Germany NT 2024

That's the schedule. So Germany would have to win like 9 games? So lose to Turkey, Italy and China and win against Ned, Can, Bra, DR, JPN, Pol and everyone else. Ned and Can would have to lose most of their matches.

    An enormous challenge

Winning against Japan, Brazil and Netherlands? Good luck :what:. And even against DR it is at best a 50:50 chance.

  • The team had "media day" today with photoshooting:

Kästner, Strubbe and Pogany have joined the team. No Corina Glaab. I saw Marie Hänle in one of Rett Larson's videos lately but she's not on this picture either :/ However both Pia Timmer and Luisa van Clewe are in today's video of Larson but not on this picture either...

  • Today first friendly against Romania in Potsdam, on twitch.tv at 19:30 CEST. They should win this, but most importantly is testing of course.

If someone - especially from the German-speaking part of the community - doesn't want to watch Spontent's broadcast, you can alternatively follow the stream provided by SC Potsdam on sportdeutschland.tv. The stream there starts 15 minutes earlier, at 7:15 p.m. (CEST).

  • Maybe they are too tired, but that opponent is only Romania, even having a good head coach with former Stuttgart and Potsdam coach Hernandez.

  • I couldn't watch the match live but I caught up at least with the first three sets so far, and Lena Kindermann had a very strong match in her debut for NT :super: Good to see that finally we develop some options for OPP position.

    The roster was:

    Kästner, Straube

    Drewniok, Kindermann

    Alsmeier, Stigrot, Stautz, Jatzko

    Cekulaev, Weitzel, Strubbe, Schölzel

    Pogany, Cesar

Weske, Agbortabi and Kohn were sitting behind the court. I'm a bit surprised Cesar made the cut over Nestler, but everybody else was pretty much expected. I think today's roster will also be the main players for VNL, but no official info yet.

According to DVV's report, Kindermann scored 23 pts, Alsmeier 22, Weitzel 21 with 70% in attack.

  • Weitzel as middle as usual one of the main weapons of the team, Strubbe performed also well, but you can't win with middles and one OH and OP alone...

  • The team travelled to Ankara today, no news about the roster yet but I expect the players from the match against Romania to all be there, most of them have appeared in Instagram stories from the airport or Antalya. Hannah Kohn also is in Antalya, so I suppose Waibl took more than 14 players, maybe even all 17 that were in the hall on Friday :/

  • Judging from Rett Larson's (aka the best source about German NT ^^) latest post, 15 players are in Antalya, namely the 14 from the friendly match plus Hannah Kohn, so it seems Weske and Agbortabi didn't travel. I guess Hannah Kohn is there in case Kästner's back makes trouble again.

  • Waibl seems to be really fond of Cekulaev, she's in starting six again today :| Also Kindermann gets to start which is nice to see after her good performance last week

There is one luxury this team has: four really good middles.
