Jatzko is dressed as 2nd libero so I guess Cesar might come in as backrow substitute. Waibl said after the friendly match that good reception is vital for the team's performance so this makes sense.

So after week 1, the results are pretty much as expected, but at least today's match has been quite disappointing because Dutch team in current shape was not an unbeatable opponent.
Kästner had too many shaky moments for me, being slow on her feet and lacking precision, plus sometimes making questionable choices. I wish Straube had gotten more chances already.
Drewniok and Kindermann showed that they're good enough to beat France, but not to beat any top 10 team.
OH position is one big problem with Alsmeier being the only one playing solid enough. Jatzko not playing a single point despite Stigrot's poor performance and Stautz' lack of level to play front row against serious opponents is worrying.
MBs have been good, but today Waibl was unlucky. Strubbe didn't have a good impact today and he waited too long to bring Cekulaev back, However MBs plus Pogany have been the only ones to perform on a level which is anywhere near world class.
At this point any chance to qualify for Paris is purely mathematical, in reality we can be happy if we beat at least Bulgaria and Thailand in the remaining matches.

Duh...I wonder if this was known all along or if she made that decision just now
So it's going to be Kindermann and Weske for the rest of VNL and even less chances to win against anyone other than Bulgaria and Thailand, and those won't be that easy either...

It's no surprise, because she announced to withdraw from NT altogether already last year, her holidays from that are now over.

It is weird that she can retire back and forth from NT so easily. I know German NT is not in a position to say no to players but it's not nice that she can play in NT whenever she feels like and then again lets her team down whenever she feels like

At least she participated in the full preparations for VNL and earned her spot, but basically I agree with your point. That's the problem with our very limited pool of players, the staff will welcome anyone with open arms who can help the team even temporarily.

Yes, German NT is currently screwed in every regard, to summarize it.

Dresden's probably a bit too enthusiastic about the teams performance yet. 😃

OMG this is the most hilarious article I've read in a long time
If it was meant ironic it would be much closer to the truth than if they're being serious

Maybe I'm overinterpreting but Monique Strubbe's injury might be a bigger thing
OTOH DVV not giving any details is suspicious (though not unusual for them...), and then I saw Corina Glaab posted a status with photos of them together saying "thinking of you" and "big hug". Might be totally random but somehow it doesn't look like a good sign, I just hope it's not one of the big injuries like ACL/Achilles/shoulder

I heard she broke her finger. But that's just hearsay. I hope it's nothing too serious.

Compared to other possible injuries that would be a "good" option so I hope your source is right

A typical injury for a middle, it's more often happening as you hear.

We have really a big issue, not only not participating in Paris, but they can even go further down in world ranking instead of up, with Thailand being close behind now and even Belgium has a chance to overtake them. This is the worst situation in decades IMHO.

Wo how a player changed all as it started with orthman injury
-
They have to thank France, that they didn't let Thailand win in three or four sets, because otherwise Germany would have lost rank 12 to Thailand. But changes are more likely downwards than upwards obviously.

Well germany shouldn't worry as they gonna recover those points in Eurovolley qualifier

I will say it start with Vital 😊 this was in my opinion one of the worse choice that they can make. We see what they will make next year 😊

He did an excellent campaign at VNL
first time germany qualify to final round since 2009 and players were in top form
Then orthmann injured and all fall apart
