Paris 2024 - men’s tournament

  • Italy-Japan 3-2

    France-Germany 3-1

    USA-Brasil 3-2

    Poland-Slovenia 3-1

  • Japan will be lucky to even get a set from this Italy.

France got lucky with Germany but hope Germany has the qf match of their lives and wins it.

Hopefully, Slovenia will get revenge for that disastrous VNL bronze medal match.

I don’t think we saw the real level of Japan in the group stage honestly. They seemed really off and their defense was not at the level we saw the last two years. I think it was a fluke and they’ll play better. I had them in 3rd place at the start of the tournament.

  • Above expectations? He was their best player against Brazil and today match against Poland.

in Olympics. He was amazing against Brazil and Poland. Solid performances. Didn’t expect this from him.

  • I like Poland and have been vocal about it here in the past but I do not like Grbic's roster choices, especially this season. He has some players locked in his mind, without their current form and it hurts the team. I am going to be rooting for Slovenia.

On the other hand, it is the Olympics and every match is a new start. Especially, now with the quarter finals. Teams that had a great start could have a bad day on that specific day and that is it. or vice versa. Excited for the match ups and am looking forward to watching them all. Wish the best of luck for all teams at this point.

  • Italy-Japan 3-2

    France-Germany 3-1

    USA-Brasil 3-2

    Poland-Slovenia 3-1

Poland may have a big challenge in 1/4. In ECH 2023 semi, Stern was not there. Rupert was injured in set #3. Leon had a solid performance and contributed a serve run in set #4. All factors favored Poland, so they won at 3:1. It's still an intense match though.

Things are so different this time. Stern could be a game changer for Slovenia. Kurek was not stable, and Leon looks not in good shape in this tournament so far. Slovenia always play on a high level when they play against Poland.

I will not be surprised if Slovenia defeat Poland in 1/4

GER and SLO are both capable for upsets! Would love these 2 in the semis

  • Grbic should have realized by now he needs a good receiver in court.

You have 2 beast middles and probably the best setter of the world when it comes to feeding the middles. This is what made Poland the best team out there un the last years.

Yes... I think that in the last match the setter fed only three sets to Kuba when will all know that he is in a really good shape and a player who can be a real factor.

  • POL is playing extremely well. They are actually using MBs more AND Kurek is actually scoring lol.

[EDIT 1] POL is winning with Fornal's reception. Even more insane, is that they are actually not serving well this set. SLO is getting first timer vibes this set. So much errors and inability to convert when the ball is handled on their side.

  • Poland is determined to get through the semis! :super:

  • SLO is doing much better this set. Their winning most of the longer sets but POL is just playing efficiently. Also, Cebulj definitely lifted.

[Edit 1] What a run from SLO. Almost every ball is barely lifted AND every single time they went for it.

  • Slovenia played mentally tough at the end of set #2. Two crucial serves from Urnaut.

Now the pressure is on Poland side. Luckily Kurek is on fire today.

    Leon needs to step up.

    Fornal's defense is amazing.
