S.Korea - 2024-2025 V-League (Women)

  • This is offtopic but it's related to the players so I hope it's okay. I follow Hyojin and Dahyeon on instagram I saw that they've been liking posts supporting the late Kim Saeron and I only noticed because it pops up on my instagram's recommended reels even though I only follow volleyball. I had no idea she even passed away and the extent of her suffering. Anyway, I was just happy to see it. It somewhat restores my faith in humanity.

If this isn't allowed feel free to have this moved I'm not sure where.

Yes, unfortunately in most East Asian countries women still get the brunt of punishment for crimes that men do - and for less (sexual abuse and rape will only get men 1 year to 2 years at most, and afterward they are free to do whatever e.g. Seungri of Big Bang). Yet a woman getting a DUI (not minimizing this issue) gets them blacklisted and socially outcasted.

Sad Kim Saeron ended up this way given she's still so young. But this is not just an issue with his ex (an older and much more popular actor), but the society in general for being so perfectionist.

What team is she with? may she rest in peace

  • What team is she with? may she rest in peace

    I'll leave it here

  • After 6 years, Korea vs. Thailand Women's Volleyball All Star Super Match will be held on April 19, 2025!

There will be 2 matches held during this event, with each countries' representative NTs playing (Senior team) and also their rookie players (players with potential to be NT).

Its always exciting to see these two countries play against each other. :super:

  • Red Sparks is so plagued and unlucky with injuries
Would've easily went 2-0 against Hillstate if not for that, in fact they probably could've came out #1 in regular season too

Hope they put up a good fight in the championships, I'm rooting for them

Also, playing finals match just 2 days after their last semi-finals match is an insane schedule

I know the #1 seed should have an advantage but 2 games in 3 days + long travel

Who thought that was a good idea...

  • Pink Spiders are the 2024-2025 Champions after completing a reverse sweep of Red Sparks. It was a fitting send off for Kim Yeon Koung who was playing her last league match in a glittering career lasting almost 20 years....

    EDIT

    Oops !

I think the 'Grand Final' is best of 5 format so we'll be seeing KYK again in Leg 3 (4 Apr) and possibly Leg 4 (6 Apr) and Leg 5 (8 Apr) as well 😳

What can you say about tutku Burcu yuzgenc? She was injured at some point but I think she made a good comeback? How was her overall performance this season? Is she staying in Korea?

I think she's good but nothing like the other opposite players playing in Korea. She blocks good and attacks well. I think her major problem is explosiveness.

She's more of an all-rounded player. Which unfortunately in Korea, they need someone who can score 20-30 pts per match.

  • Yes they still have match on April 4. :)

Thanks for answer! I've seen her being mvp at many matches, it shouldn't be easy to be mvp in a team with kyk

Well, there are several MVPs per match depending on the broadcast station (KBS, SBS MVP etc.) for Korean broadcast, thus there are sometimes 2 MVPs per match in some games.

She's quite average, probably 4th-5th place out of 7 Foreign players (Silva, Bukirich, and Victoria are ahead of her).

  • Red Sparks has too many players with injuries, especially their main setter Yeum

I do think they're playing their best and hope they can win but I think its time to congratulate Pink Spiders in advance

Very unlikely for any team to repeat what HiPass did last year reverse sweeping in the championships down 2 games to none

And it's not as satisfying watching an injured team compete against a healthy and rested competition

  • Red Sparks win it against Pink Spiders!

3:2 match despite the odds! Really exciting match especially Set 2.

Megawati scores 40 points this match! I heard there were talks of her playing with Red Sparks again next season - hope she gets the foreign player slot as she deserves the salary increase.

It seems Sparks are not done yet, I tuned in almost 9pm our time and was surprised the match is still going on... it must have lasted 4 hours

Sparks are not giving up without a fight :box:

If she continues she will remain as Asian Quota player, if she wants to apply for Foreigner Slot she will need to rejoin the draft and won't remain with Red Sparks

But I heard that she won't be continuing next season to focus on her marriage(?)

It seems Sparks are not done yet

Yep insane 34-36 set, but could they last 2 more games with their injured players? Especially after this long 5 set match..

I wish they could but it'll be difficult
