    Milan, Scandicci, Novara and Conegliano should have "sealed" spots for the semis. Perhaps Chieri might topple or overthrow Milan, but its still a mighty task and an uphill climb for them. Although you dont appreciate to hear it, the deficicient or sub-par depth of the league is reflected by these - on paper - non-competitive matchups. However, nothing else is unfortunalety to be anticipated due to the emergence of LOVB.

    I desagree with you. Milano is still in a terrible. I can easily see them losing from Chieri. As for Novara , they lost 3-0 the last time they played against Busto. Busto is not in their best shape but yet it's Busto...

    I welcome the opportunity to sum up Boxing Day matches wishing everbody happy holidays.


    I watched Bergamo-Busto Arsizio still under the effects of the lavish lunch I had just minutes before the start of the game, so I don't know how reliable my feedback will be... :rolll: Anyway, what a surprising one-sided match it turned out to be. I didn't expect Bergamo to lead that comfortably, especially considering UYBA was scoring points nonstop from round 4. I get now why Parisi was so fond of Cesé, the girl has some amazing physical skills and with little roughing up she's becoming a very interesting prospect. The great team context is just enhancing the good qualities of the roster (Manfredini above all), which is expressing the very best of itself. Tough day at the office for UYBA, I guess one bad game was in the card after such a spectacular first half of the season. The OH pairing of Künzler and Piva wasn't as good as recently, Boldini didn't impress and the Obossa-Frosini substitution didn't work.


    A vibrant first set, closely won by Pinerolo against Novara, wasn't followed by the same level of play I was expecting. Great perfomance for Bonifacio, who's starting to form a really impressive duo with Aleksić, but Ishikawa was right there and got a well-deserved MVP award. Some up and downs for Alsmeier, Bosio and Tolok, but they did what they needed to do in order to have the better of a messy Pinerolo. The team has potential, but they rarely put it all together: in a day where Perinelli was able to contribute on both phases, it's a pity they weren't able to play the middle sets just like the first and the fourth.


    It might be disrespectful labeling the match a catwalk, but Conegliano did its best to make it look like one. Santarelli rested most of the starters but nonetheless his team activated the cruise control having some minor problems just in the last set. Lanier is making the most out of the opportunities she gets, but it's hard to earn a spot in the starting lineup when you're fighting for position with Gabi and a reinvigorated Zhu Ting. Not a good news for Łukasik, but it's ok to take some time to completely adjust. Nice effort from Adigwe once again, she really is a pleasant surprise considering the young age, the player she has to substitute from time to time and the team in which she's playing. The same old Eze tried to keep Talmassons in the match, but as I said this is what they have and must focus on not botching the games against their direct contenders at the bottom of the standings.


    Apart from a very disappointing second set by Chieri, the hosts managed to prevail against Cuneo even without Gicquel, Omoruyi and Zakchaiou in the lineup. Skinner catched the eye as usual but it was nice to see Buijs doing her bit. Same old same for Cuneo, as soon as either Bjelica or Kapralova aren't able to score Cuneo hasn't any weapon to really compete.


    Similar things can be said about Perugia: good start, then Vallefoglia was able to regroup and controlled quite smoothly the match. The positive note for the Umbrians is that the team has a bigger potential compared to Cuneo, Roma and Talmassons and Németh isn't the lone voice. Gardini and Ungureanu are erratic but both have points in their hands, while using Traballi in the back row might help some more plays with Cekulaev. Coming to the hosts, great job by Candi and Weitzel once again in taking some weight off Bici's shoulders.


    After a crucial win against Talmassons, Roma had nothing to lose against Milano and played probably one of the best game of their season. Orvošová was quite effective and I feel like they wasted some opportunities to win at least one set, unfortunately for them Egonu scored some crucial points in the final phases and basically ended the match. Having the roster back at its full potential and solving the continuity during the game are still the main focuses for Lavarini.


    The Florence Derby closed the day and ended with the predictable win for Scandicci, but Firenze had a better start winning a tight first set. From there though Scandicci began to take full advantage of the quality gap between the two teams and surprisingly managed to get the win with a solid collective performance, with five players on double digits. Herbots was the MVP, but I must say it could've been awarded to almost anyone else. Mingardi, with Ribechi covering her for the back row, was solid and took some weight off Antropova's shoulders, Nwalakor made her presence known, Castillo was the usual hoover with tons of digs and defences, Ognjenović orchestrated very well her band.

    We´ll have to wait and see, but your prediction was horrendous last week @ Club WCH. You claimed it was "impossible" for Tianjin to overthrow Milano, yet they prevailed in straight sets. Perhaps your assumptions carry more weight this time around.
