CEV Champions League 2025

  • I agree, its weird to see local leagues having winning series like best of 3 or 5 to advance where in CL its only a win + 2 sets. And CL supposed to be worthier or harder than local leagues. It would also be a win-win for fans, we see these teams playing agains each other only couple of times in a year and thats it. some top teams dont even play against each other for years.

    I think is because of tight schedule in european leagues

  • tbh it’s a lame format that Milano only needs 2 sets to advance. I wish the quarter finals were just a best of 3 series instead

    I can imagine it is hard to arrange 3rd game due to busy national league schedules. But I think they should play golden set independent of score of winning team. If Milano would win 2 sets, they would put their backup players on court right away and it would be a meaningless match for everyone, also disrespectful to all the audience who came to the gym to watch their favourite players🤦CEV values winning 3-1 more than winning 3-2, which is understandable but win is a win, golden set should be played anyways in the case both teams win once, independent of the score

    this would be fine too

  • I think you guys dont know difference between playoff and knockout stage :)

    what would you prefer then? :call:

    I like the idea of always playing a golden set when both teams won a match. Maybe the team that won more sets could be given an advantage of something like 3 points/set, then for example:

    - results 3:0 and 1:3 => golden set starts with a score of 3:0

    - results 3:0 and 2:3 => golden set starts with a score of 6:0

    That way there would be no meaningless sets but on the other hand every set won counts for something.

    This.

    This is probably equal to removing away goals in football.

    they should combine a super finale for these two cups

    6 points in a 15 point tie break set would be too much to recoop though

    Golden set is too short and already feels like tossing a coin, giving another team 6, or even 3 points in such a short set would be too much. A team rarely recovers from 6-0 at a tiebreaker set. I think they should just play golden set independent of the scores, this would be least complicated way and most fun for audience

  • Imo the system is pretty fair right now. Even the 3x1 or 3x0 win has been counted as the same.

    isnt like winning a 3x0 as Milano did would be the same as a narrow win by ECZ in tie break.

    This is only for QF and Final Four is Back:drink:só nothing to complain ImO

    final four was really missed imo

  • I really hope ECZ wins. that match was painful to watch. Come at me if you will, but minus Hande, who is still inconsistent, the reception of the other three OH's (Plummer, Gray, Yaprak) is so mehg\. Especially, Yaprak who is already one of the shortest OH's, she needs to nail her reception, otherwise her offense won't make a difference, unrelated but I feel this is why she can't play on the Senior NT in more high level events IMO. Elif's setting decisions were also terrible, and don't get me started on the Coach Lol. I think ECZ has all the potential to beat them, if they can click and play with the same fire Milano does. But FS Milano's blocking and service pressure will pose the biggest threat to ECZ.

  • Eczacibasi and Vero Volley are the most unstable teams in women's volleyball. Never say never. One day they play crazy well and the following one they suck.

    Eczacibasi was a little bit unlucky with Plummer, because she only joined late in the season and the team in once again playing without chemistry, because they still don't know how to make both her and Boskovic productive at the same time: every time on of those 2 steps up, the other slows down. Of course any version of her is better than Gray and her whatever attitude on court. :D

    Vero Volley has been missing Pietrini as well, but they have far better alternatives than the current verion of Hande.

    what do you mean? Alexa came in and almost completely flipped the game in set 2 but the hole Plummer dug for the team was too deep.

  • Gray is a game changer once in a season. That's all.

    So true. I'm from Canada and I've watched Gray over the years. She's inconsistent. Her passing is terrible, she is a known target. Her attacking has improved over the years, she can get up high and rip a couple, but I know what you mean. She had a good game against Milano tho. Better than the other 3 OH's.
