Japan - SV.League Women 2024-2025

  • Lise Van Hecke to JT (Osaka) Marvelous

I saw this coming. I mentioned it in last season’s thread hehe

…All the foreign god tier OP don’t wanna go to Japan anymore…

Btw, Nwakalor and Van Hecke haven’t signed with any clubs yet. It seems they’ll still play in Japan, and I’m pretty sure one will join JT.

Edit: I forgot about Karsta Lowe. She might return?? She’s a better choice than those two for me tho.

  • Interesting to me that Yuka Iwashima who was drafted by Toyota 2 years ago in her sophomore year in college is "Free Negotiating" out of there to play somewhere else her senior year. Seems like breaking a gentleman's agreement. I dunno

  • Here's what we have so far for the Foreign Players - both confirmed (announced by team or player) and with strong rumors / news from the transfer market.

[black, bold] - announced by the team; past player

[red] - rumors from different media

    I will update once confirmed.

  • Okayama must have a death wish or something they didn't even try to get a Thai player

no idea why okayama would even be part of sv the coach is too caught up with haruko style level of play and seem to have no interest in volleyball outside of the so-called "japanese way"

  • no idea why okayama would even be part of sv the coach is too caught up with haruko style level of play and seem to have no interest in volleyball outside of the so-called "japanese way"

I also have no idea why Okayama wants to be in SV.League. Maybe when Kawamoto retires they will join the Dark Side

or go out of business :/

  • Kurobe's most promising player, Wakana Akishige, just showed up in the "Retirement" column. She was one of those early Uni Grabs. Still has one year to go

    [Update] She's going Beach

  • They can now have 2 Asian imports?

No maximum foreign players but max 3 oncourt (2 foreign + 1 Asian from eligible list). Asian import can be registered in the other Foreign/Non Asian slot based on guidelines. They only have 1 non Asian foreign player, so possible to let the 3 play together by registering one of the Thai players in the Foreign slot.

With this, 3 Asian with no Foreign Non Asian is apparently possible too 😅

  • SAGA will play a friendly match with Chinese team Jiangsu. stream:

I love watching warmups where coaches fire speedballs at the players followed by look away tosses to make them dive

  • Not a fan of this wing trio combination playing now for SAGA. But then, it wouldn't matter much since they are signing foreign OH and OPP so only 1 of them will play regularly in the league. Nakajima as OH most likely will play, then foreign players Szakmary and Samedy.

  • Where did that Kurobe bodytwisting libero go to

    Denso

We got a new body twister on the horizon: Natsumi Kodama, played in the just completed Eastern Zonal thing and finishing her last year with Juntendo University. On her way to Himeji if they are lucky

  • Ibaraki, Himeji, and Shiga are the only ones who picked a MB

Okayama with ZERO and Osaka with ONE foreign pin. The rest have TWO foreign pin hitters (assuming @vollyb keeps batting 1000). I can't even imagine how foreign this is going to look
