Japan - SV.League Women 2024-2025

  • I'm not gonna lie I was really doubting Victorina big time and I still do for the most part because it's Manabe's team but I guess Inoue wants all of us to take back all the shit we said about her during Paris.

Well I'm not taking anything back lmao but she's delivering so I'll give her that

we'll see if that consistency lasts throughout the entire season

  • i just remembered nagaoka still hasn't reached her 300 games award thingy. will sv league still have that?

i was gonna root for kitty this season but seems like she still can't hold a candle to miyu yet and with sakai at helm she's unlikely to do that

They should have better awards than that. I hope they also drop the spirit award too it sounds comical and pointless

  • PFU might have the best rookies

They are rookies to V.League but all the Uni girls were stars of where they came from, had a big impact on their teams. It's weird tho, seems like the transition from Uni to V.League is harder than that of high school to V.League

PFU when I realized she was missing and their captain middle looked entirely different than how I remember her but in a good way

Aya Hosonuma looks great, and is playing well. Another player who would benefit from losing a few pounds and firming up a bit is Denso MB Mana Yokoyama. Another Uni Monster who took a couple years to transition and figure things out, she's got the starting spot now and is doing well. I think she has NT potential if she could get to, say, Shion's shape

  • NEC is a total mystery

I can't, for the life of me, figure out why NEC is struggling with any team, let alone losing to any of them

  • speaking of pfu they're the only team with actual opps playing as opposites and not the vague oh/opp uncertainty. more teams need to have that.

    PFU is over-OP'd :) :: Kash : Valdes : Kawasaki : Omura

Omura is playing OH with PFU and is totally fine at it, but she hits better from the right side, imo. Great angle bang. She played receiving OP at Uni.

  • Hey :!: Why is the overall reception rate so lousy this year compared to recent years? Have they changed the way they rate things? Anybody know?

  • I can't, for the life of me, figure out why NEC is struggling with any team, let alone losing to any of them

    For the games vs SAGA...

    - They lost their 2 leaders in Kojima and Koga. All of those left look lost in crunch time :aww: Both losses are in 5 sets and they almost always lose if the set is close at the end.

    - Wada started both days and performed really bad. She's good when she comes in as a double sub but so inefficient as a starter. Idk why. The coach did not even trust anyone to replace her, even if she's not converting and not defending (Lorrayna was not dressed).

    - Daikuzono was not dressed yesterday. Not sure if she's even there. Kojima >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Daikuzono >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fujii. I said a lot of times that Daikuzono is not yet ready to be the solo libero of a top team, but man, Fujii is definitely worse.

    - Kitamado and Fukazawa did well :cheesy: SAGA adjusted. :flower: When Samedy was not performing, they benched her for Nagaoka and eventually Yoshitake. When Szakmary was not performing, they benched her for Fukazawa. When Kitamado was performing really well, they did not replace her and sets most of the balls to her and capitalize. No changes for NEC at all even if they were all bad

mmm, yeah, SAGA matches had the Wada and Fujii (and no Loraryna) problem, but they also lost to Saitama and Koriya (Saitama maybe, but not Koriya). They should be winning everything just based on their middles

Weird and troubling about Wada. Yamauchi is there and doing well, and she's a leader. I would have even tried moving Yoshino to OP and swinging in Hirota. I would also have replaced Ajcharaporn with Sasaki :) both for full local flair and Sasaki don't look lost much

Yoshino has lost most of her baby whining loser face after she makes an error. That's cool

  • Please be that >180 girl!

    yes 181-183cm. Great prospect

why do you think wada is struggling right now? setter issues?

  • why do you think wada is struggling right now? setter issues?

Not sure she is struggling "right now". My fear is this is who she is. She can come in and pound out a set, even a match (eg. USA match) but doesn't seem ready to pound out set after set, match after match

Players come off the bench with a different mindset than when they are starters (my theory). Like, I think Yuki Ishii in her later career came off the bench better than she started. I think Yukiko comes off the bench better than she starts

I don't think the problem is insurmountable. She's still young. But I don't think OH works for her and what's she gonna do ... bench Lorrayna? It's the young Japanese OP problem

  • i was gonna root for kitty this season but seems like she still can't hold a candle to miyu yet and with sakai at helm she's unlikely to do that

But Miyu is literally the one molding Kitty and she's not even an opp. Wasn't it the other Inoue that's an op

Once Miyu's gone and both kitty and inoue over 180 make better attack decisions and develop their own style that could pretty much propel Saga back to NT Vip and they already have Araki who is kinda mid so far but I doubt she'd want to be left out again

Inoue is a middle. She wouldn't make a good pin either as of now. Saga doesn't have a pure local opp aside from Miyu.

  • Saga aside, Toray is still in deep deep water. Good that they have Tashiro, that mb rom Saitama and ofc Nwakalor but what's gonna happen to their weakass rookies

their biggest mistake is not investing in any of the new sub-aces in the nt. they don't have any valuable assets so it really doesn't matter how they do this season.
