Naturalisation

  • Marina Markova Türk Vatandaşı mı oluyor? – Voleybolun Renkli Dünyası (voleybolmagazin.com)

According to this, FIVB will review the number of naturalized players who can be in the NT:gone::gone::gone:. This thing with the naturalisation has be rediculous. The whole point in play with the NT , is being with people of your country. I do not understand this. Turkey's rage to win international competitions can really completely change the volleyball map and rules internationally. And what if they lose with Markova as well? Will they bring a third foreigner:sos::sos::sos:?

  • Hold your horses! It is just rumours. Even if it is true, it is probably Vakıfbank pushing rather than Turkish federation🤦 currently both Fenerbahçe and Eczacıbaşı have one naturalized player, vakıf probably wants to get one too to be able to be more competitive in Turkish league. Also from markova's point of view, noone knows how many more years this Russian boycott will last so it makes sense to look for another NT to play, even if she can't play for Turkish NT, her salary would drastically increase if she would be counted as local

  • As a neutral and unbiased person, I want to write this. Fivb should really stop the nationalization process now because it makes the sport less attractive and interesting. National teams aren't clubs and should not be. Everything shouldn't be so easy and primitive imho. It's my objective opinion whether you like it or not.

    Primitive? this makes no sense.

This is biased though. You can't say unbiased then say it's your opinion. An opinion will always be biased that's why it's an opinion because you're inclined to feel that way not because it's innately and systematically that way.

  • afaik Markova has not played for Russia NT, am I wrong? So she will be the same case as Antropova.

  • I don’t like this thing about foreigners in NT. This is the main difference for club season. Imo only one player it’s enough for NT.

  • I just wonder is it really that easy to get a Turkish nationality? With Vargas case I kinda understand it since she played in Turkey for few years and probably could even live there off season but didn’t Markova just spent half a club season in Turkish League?

Unbiased and opinion? Do you realize it is an oxymoron, right?😂

Girl spent like 3 months in Turkey, 2 in Italy, 2 more in Indonesia, etc.

Vargas' case was completely different even though there was money involved and she chose the best bidder, her relationship with the Cuban federation was broken beyond repair and they treated her like s***. And as you said she spent a few years in Turkey so it sort of made sense.

  • What a fantastic news, I really hope that it is true and not a fake news. I would love to see Markova playing the Turkish league as a Turkish player. I am not sure why so much emotions about this. It is between two consenting parties. Are they breaking any law? NO. Are they breaking any regulation? NO, are they following the procedures set by FIVB? YES. Etc. Etc. I wonder if it would be the same reaction had she chose to play for Peru or some other country. If it’s morally so wrong then campaign FIVB to change the rule, it is that simple. I am just hoping that, it is not a fake news, since many Volleyball sites writes stuff to get couple of clicks.

  • Just in the sense that she never played for NT but Antropova has bern in Italy since 13 yo so basically all her sporting career was developed in Italy and hence she chose to compite for Italy, even with almost no help from the federation.

First she was 14 years old, then 13 years old, and next she’ll be 13 months old! What I said has nothing to do with the player’s background, it’s the same case regardless.

Markova and Antropova are not so different cases. They are both Russians and a piece of paper does not change things , like it or not. Moreover, the fact that Andropova came to Italy from a young age was obviously because she had a long-term and well-organized plan, and not because she had some unknown ties of love for the country. They both want to play in a foreign country for their own interest and that makes the cases the same.

The difference is that Turkey has ALREADY an foreign player and because they did not get a medal they want an other one:sos::sos::sos:. Also Italy do not has Antropova as a starter while Turkey has been carried by Vargas since she came in to the team.

About FIVB I do not know even why I have to comment this. When you difine the rules to your interest because you pay a lot and have power there is no point in talking about whether they are fair or not :gone::gone::gone:.

If this happens then there will start to be a generalized problem as of course all teams will want to become more powerful by naturalizing players.

  • I think as long as Russia is banned from international tournament, let Markova play for Turkiye. It is a super waste of talent if that golden girl cannot play for any country on the grandest stage of volleyball. People complain that Turkiye does this a lot but they only have Vargas, a one-time case.
