I do love some of Iranian hotties but they are coming from a ridiculously easy group because of host draw (seriously two African teams+Philippines? Rigged much?
) and they barely made it to top 16 with smallest margin possible. So I prefer Serbia aka Team Thick Thighs to be in semis 🤤😂 also they need to give something to Serbia to celebrate. Their both female volleyball team and male basketball teams have flopped big time this summer😅 -
unpopular opinion perhaps but countries who aren't in the top 10 in the world ranking shouldn't host. ph can't gloat about "fans" anymore when ticket sales plummeted and their expected revenue didn't even meet even half of what fivb projected
Im fine weaker countries being host but they shouldn't be seeded as number 1. Look at group A, it is ridiculous🤦 also teams shouldn't be matched with their group-mates in quarters. Even if some of the groups are unbalanced in strength, they should be mixed in a way that both qualified teams should be able to go to finals together, at least theocratically. With this approach, fivb would nullify the risk of unbalanced group pairings

Among top 16 teams in the world:
World number 3, 5, 7, 10 and 11 are already out of competition after group stage. Due to messed up matchups, one of number 4 and 6 will be eliminated, as well as number 2 and 8
On paper, it should be Poland-USA final but this wch is anything but predictable.

All I can say about this WCh is that USA kinda fucked up the quad by having the World Championship happen every 2 years and making it a "short" tournament lmao I still think this pooling would have worked if it took the top 3 teams in the pool and made the pool size bigger.
The way I see it, the stars are aligning for Bulgaria to take this trophy home, but I'm also excited at the thought of a Poland-Italy semifinal which is very much like the Italy-Brazil from the women's side.
Edit: Forgot to give massive props to the performance of my home country (Philippines), I think volleyball will really start to pivot to Asia, all they need to do is not fuck up the ticket prices because damn -
Giving the top seed to the host country has always been the norm. If it effed up the results for the top teams, that's their problem. Those top teams were expected to push through the next round. They were still grouped with relatively weaker teams after all.
Fearless forecast - it will be either USA and Poland winning. The path has been cleared for them.

Just because it has always been the norm, it should be done same way in the future too🤦 there is no justification to favor a team so ridiculously. This most of the times give them a free tickets to top 16 which is unfair. Luckily Philippines couldn't even manage that 😂

the prices of the tickets were ridiculously high for filipino fans, and for the round 16 it's 1 ticket per 1 game. it's the organizers greed at fault.
