Japan - V.League Women 2024-2025

  • Good on her

But she still needs to perform, win matches , the championship :cheesy:

    I'm hard to please :|

She took Artemis from zero to sixty in nothing flat. Won the National 6 Person thing their first two years existing, which I'm sure helped them get into V.League, which they then literally tied for first place. I think she will do well

  • OP Rena Sato is leaving Ligare Sendai. Sounds like she wants to keep playing, but Sendai was the place for her. I'm bummed. She's 171cm so probably no place for her in SVL

They are also losing their starting OH Kanae Yagishita to retirement

Them, and losing Setter extraordinaire Yuna Kato, is going to set them way back. I don't think they have money for imports, but I don't want imports. I want them ;(

hopefully everyone at Shinsuu will stay 🙏

A handful resigned/retired. No one that important beyond that 9-ball setter who played libero and #4 OH Minami Kurotori

But in big news, Kaho Wakaizumi is leaving Hamamatsu. Sounds like she doesn't have anything lined up but said: "If there's a chance to challenge a higher category, I want to grab it"

'Higher category' should just grab her :cheesy:

    She's a fighter :box:

  • I should probably start a 25/26 thread but it feels like a lost cause

my fave Sendai girl OP Rena Sato has signed with JA Gifu. Maybe they have a firmer business backend but it doesn't feel like a transfer hope improvement to me

Himeji fave girl OP Runa Adachi is going on loan to Breath Hamamatsu. I don't know what the deal is with Himeji and Hamamatsu and all the loans they do, but Runa may actually be a full time starter there ... what with Drunken Sailor Wakaizumi's departure. Sad part is that everyone so far who has done the loan thing in either direction has retired after their one year loan was up :(

The KLF's HC quit along with NINE players :white:

This makes sense tbh, since they don’t have playing time in their main teams. If you already know you are retiring after that season, but you still have a valid contract, better to ask to be loaned to another team where you can play. At least you’re playing one more time before retiring.

That was my first impression, but I thought players had only one year contracts

Maybe Himeji is different? I could see it applying to Aratani, but then she didn't play with Hamamatsu at all

Karen Moriki was Hamamatsu's starting setter and seemed like her star was on the rise. The loan to Himeji made sense? I dunno. But then she didn't play with Himeji and then retired. It's a mystery
