Transfer Rumors & Discussion (2025/2026)

  • The league is still in its infancy so it's a locals hyping local stars scenario. It's in the league's best interest right now to focus on hometown faves.

I don't know if you saw, but there was this viral tiktok of 2 middle aged Americans googling Sheilla Castro they were sitting behind her lol. That basically sums it up

    Some mom from Brazil.

  • I get that. I was thinking from the perspective of a volleyball fan, but the USA doesn't have an established volleyball community, so they are targetting casual sports fans.

But, at the same time, if they were looking to drive up the league's engagement, getting a Brazilian player (that is actually relevant and not Key Alves lol) would certainly do that. I would actually like to see Rosa in LOVB, she fits the American system and I think the shorter season would be good for her.

They do, but its very NCAA focused. Because that's all they've ever had access to. You can't build a fan base on something that only exists every four years on TV (the Olympics). It would've been great for USAV (or LOVB) to really drive home the connection between NCAA-LOVB-NT, but they didnt.

They tried last year for Rosa, but I assume (or well, know) Japan pays her more.

    LOVB should invite KYK

  • I remember few years ago on Junior EuroVolley that Ten Brinke was amazing, i see that she is in Germany now but as i don't follow i'm curios how her devlopment goes VolleyOrange  Let's go orange. Also curious about setter Lyklema i think the one generation above, i also was impressed with her on some youth competition a while ago.

Ten brinke had a decent first season abroad. She is rumored to join Schwerin next season. That would be a good move for her development. She is on the longlist for the Dutch NT this year. With the absence of Lohuis I expect she will have some court time! Her attack is good, but a bit slow in block IMO.

Lyklema played for Aachen last season. Didn't have the best season I believe. She is also on the longlist and with Dijkema retiring, she could have some chances when Bongaerts or van Aalen will be rested. I don't believe she will be the future setter of Dutch NT though...

  • Engelholm volley, the team which raised Isabelle Haak in Sweden, has dissolved due to bankruptcy. Their roster this season included a promising MB, the 196 cm tall Maja Jonsson, born 2003, who henceforth is avaliable for next season. She has averaged in excess of 10 ppg this year and was one of the best blockers in the Swedish league. I would like to see her in a better league such as the German or French one in order to develop further.

That's not correct. These news came up in February and it was all over the volley media and 2 days later, they got anonymous donators, ensuring like 5 years of donations to them, putting them back as candidates for championship, so they are staying in Elit series.

I know Maja since she was a kid! Hoping that she goes abroad at some point and has the opportunity to improve further :super:

  • Mehmet Cibara of GS announced a lot of things today in an interview.

    Things I remember so far:

Naz, Grobelna, Lukasik are in GS. They are looking for 1-2 more OHs. Timmermann is also in the roaster but not sure about this.

LYY is someone they wanted for a while but looks like she won't be able to play until December no matter where she is transferred. So they want to sign 1.5 years with her.

Dangubic to Vakifbank. Yasemin Özel to Besiktas. Aslihan and Kalandadze to Aras Kargo and Sude to Göztepe. He was not sure about Bihter and Ceylan's next destination.

He also criticised national team's manager Pelin who invited players to the NT chat in Whatsapp yesterday, right before the last matches where none of the GS's middles were invited as well as Ayca Aykac of Vakifbank (in Ayca's case, it might be that she is invited but she did not inform her, where she was criticised of demoralising her since she is also FB's manager).
