the setter does this thing where when there's a bad first contact she automatically sends it to Huang in the back row, but she doesn't have the space/timing for a good approach and the triple block is waiting. same thing happened against Italy. if she sends it to the opposite, she'll just give them an easy tip

Cao Yexuan played a big part in the reversal of this match! Coming off the bench and providing more than Li Yiyi. Her energy was what the team needed and clearly should be starting!

Wang Yibo also had a good serving run to end the 4th set. I think the serbian team were expecting Huang to get most of the sets towards the end, but Wang Yibo changed it up and went to the middles and Cao.

It's tough to watch the match in the early hours in Asia at the Airlington station. Good to know when open my computer to learn the new & young team beat DOM, though with much difficulty, with the razor thin margin in five sets, with the last set went to 15-13, narrow escape, basically the two equal teams. It will take some time for the less experienced team to grow, by each international match, each tournament will forge its cohesion and help the team grow mature. Will watch the replay later via VBTV. However, this is a significantly more convincing and promising team than the one under the dumb Cai with his outdated WYL.

The changes of personnel from the team having the warm-up matches against Italy and the line-up in Shanghai event are Li Rong-yu OUT and Shan Lin-qian IN, and Ji Yu-xiao from OP to OH -- the rest stay the same.

So most likely this roster who will participate in U21 WCH in Indonesia held in Surabaya city.

I might sound harsh here, but in starting no.11 Li Yiyi in every single match it seems like the coach is either trying to lose, intentionally or he's really dumb. Take set one against Turkey (happening now) for instance, he's waited until 21-24 to replace Li Yiyi with no 6 Cao

For sure some of the best players in this age group wasn't picked or isn't available... and to make matters worse they have a coach who, along with Cai Bin, is a contender for the worst coach in China this century

I just hard to admit Chinese setter is worse than Turkish. At first I thought China had Huang and tall MBs so it's gonna be an easy win.

I think this coach, Yuan Zhi, is not good enough, slow in making apt decisions etc, in comparison with Zhao Yong, Kuang Qi in leading the junior teams. But I can be wrong, perhaps the available line-up was not good enough due to many good players of this age bracket go to the senior team. Time will tell about his coaching quality. I just didn't get the good impression watching him vs. Zhao Yong or Kuang Qi in leading the junior teams... the touch with players on court and so forth.

She said it was a team effort, it was the first time she was playing in VNL and was happy the team is in the finals. In truth, Zhuang was already playing at this level for over four years but was always deprived a spot in the senior NT, by Cai Bin.

Two years ago, after helping the FISU university team become champions (in China) she flew off to join the u21 team (in Peru) and help them win gold there. She was the tournament MVP...

I only remember her as the culprit for my Italia U21 not winning the Worlds despite being the favorite haha.

Do any of the girls have instagram? it's hard to stay updated other than the stuff vbw.asia posts but they're always late and very few in between
