Poland Women’s NT 2025

    My thoughts after these tree matches:


    - Stysiak and Łukasik are out of shape,

    - Czyrnianska is our best OH,

    - Gryka was better than I thought she will be, she’s better blocker than Centka,

    - Grabka should be cut for now,

    - Pierzchala had her good moments,

    - Smarzek is not yet on her best,

    - Damaske deserves to be included in the first week,

    - Rozanski was great at attack, but she’s the worst OH at reception,


    I would cut one of Lukasik/Rozanski just to give a chance to Piasecka and Damaske

    Actually a little more tragic than Olivia's reception. Olivia had 30% positive reception and Łukasik had only 21% attack

    That would be weird. I guess that both Łukasik and Różański are locked, because they are Lavarini's players.

    IMO Piasecka will be out.

    I agree with all of your points. Stysiak and Łukasik are out of shape, all we know that happens where all season sitting on bench...I hope that they will getting better, but for me Łukasik should stay in Szczyrk and train intead of playing in 1st week VNL and blocked spot for Damaske/Piasecka.

    And I still will writing that I would like to try Szczurowska:win:

    It's clear as day that Lukasik lost all her confidence being benched the whole season. Although to be fair She was bad already back in Paris. I don't think it's fair to pick her over players who carried their teams (Piasecka, Czyrnianska, Damaske and even Rozanski to an extent). On the other hand we have gained 2x bronze at VNL with her..


    I personally would keep Lukasik in the roster only if we decided to go with 5OHs and 3MBs.


    Too bad we didnt see how Smarzek plays with Wenerska. She could potentially be the starter for now, not that Stysisk was completely terrible but she can do better for sure.


    If there are any two players I would love to join the VNL squad, it's Kowalewska, Szczurowska and Borowczak

    well, mixed feelings after this tournament, 3:2 against Sweden (and who knows if Haak will play whole match), 3:1 against France...not something spectacular...Wenerska is clearly number 1 and only if Marlena will be healthy, they can make a balanced duo of setters..Stysiak and Lukasik in bad form, but Im not surprised..I hope Damaske will get her chance, Julita seemed rather very stressed in match against Bulgaria and Im expecting a lot more from her..MB´s are ok, if Centka will not be healthy, there are others

    Piasecka was with the national team during the first two weeks of VNL 2024 (she was the main backup when Czyrna was injured) and she played in some of the matches.

    She also started against Bulgaria, and one or two bad games won’t make Lavarini give up on her — especially since her performance wasn’t really that bad. Only an injury could keep her out of the squad.


    I also wrote some time ago about Centka — that Stefano wanted her to postpone her wedding. Regardless of the fact that her blocking is clearly weaker than Pierzchała’s, the coach wants her, and she’s now the starting player.

    At least I’m happy that Pierzchała took her chances and showed a really solid performance. She will likely be ahead of Gryka, as she would be much more useful if Centka runs into any problems.


    So IMO Damaske will be cut.

    At this point I would cut Rozanski, because I simply don’t believe she will hold this shape at attack.

    Lukasik is a better receiver and she will regain her shape at some point.


    I want to see more of Pierzchala, she had a very good performance yesterday.


    I do agree that Szczurowska deserves a chance as well. I wasn’t convinced by Stysiak and Smarzek, but Magda should play as much as possible.

    IMO there’s no way Piasecka will be out, but seeing Damaske out of VNL makes me sick. She showed a very good performance against Sweden.

    I want to see these new players in VNL.

    If Rozanski won’t improve her reception in Japan we should give up on her.

    As for now he needs to get back Stysiak and Łukasik to a normal shape so we can treat them as a new players :D

    I don't think Piasecka did bad in this tournament, quite the opposite - I was happy to see that she improved in reception since the end of TauronLiga.


    Olivia, oh Olivia... I wanna cheer for her so bad, I was so happy that she had that 28 points game, but she is very unpredictable in all the elements. Too bad the times of playing with two receivers system are faar gone, she would have been perfect for that as non receiving OH. Maybe she will be playing as such in Japan, with a receiving Opposite aside? That would be good for that team but bad for our NT.


    What was the last time ANY team on world stage played purely with only 1OH + libero for reception? Werblinska when she was covering for both Kowalinska and Skowronska? Or maybe some iteration of the Russian NT?


    Coming back to Rozanski, it's not like she'e completely not capable of handling reception. But it's a decent game or a complete black hole. Come on Olivia, I wanna cheer for you!!!

    There is a chance that maybe Łukasik is there too. I saw 12 players and added two obvious choices.
