Turkey - Vodafone Sultanlar Ligi 2025-2026

  • And this might be the reason why they may stay out of top 4 next season, together with their libero duo and local OH.

they will surely be top 4 they finished 5th this year and are adding Lazareva and Aleksic and better local OH

I don't think they improved that much from this season. Only improvement is lazareva but they were already getting enough scores from their Opp duo anyways. So Lazareva is better than mihajlovic/fabris obviously but this wasn't a problematic position for them.

Aleksic transfer might be most unnecessary transfer of the league. I don't think she will play at all except in European cups. Hilal is terrible so malinov will have to play every single match. Same for Uzelac and Lazareva. Probably even Gatina will not get much playing time. About local OH, Saliha is slightly better than Şeyma at offense but slightly worst than her at reception/defense. So I am not sure we can call it as an improvement.

I think only real improvement for Zeren is second local middle position which was a big problem for them. Beyza Arıcı could play even better than Kübra when she is at her top shape

  • I’m going to really miss this years Gala team. I think I speak for many of us when I say they were super fun to watch and they exceeded expectations and were just a couple points for playing for a final in the league and honestly could have even pushed vakifbank in that final maybe

  • What is everyone on x talking about Pelin, fener’s/NT’s team manager? What did she say/do about Ayça?

  • What is everyone on x talking about Pelin, fener’s/NT’s team manager? What did she say/do about Ayça?

She did something very dumb. She made a WhatsApp group with players invited in wide roster before the roster is announced. But she didn't invite Ayça to the WhatsApp group, which apparently upset Ayça a lot. So people think Pelin did this on purpose to demoralize Ayça before the final games against Fenerbahçe as she is not only team manager of NT but also Fenerbahçe's.

To me, it is probably a dumb mistake rather than malicious intent. Pelin doesn't seem to be the smartest cookie anyways. I don't get how she get such a job in both Fenerbahçe and NT. This is just another example of why people shouldn't have a job in both nt and a Turkish club at the same time. It just creates question marks in public in such situations.

  • It seems Trabzonspor wants to join Sultanlar Ligi sooner or later. They may start from Voleybol 1. Ligi.

It's another strong multisport club. Turkish league may be very strong in the years to come. Not only they are financially stronger, but they also put money on big structured clubs with great tradition in sport.

Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Galatasaray are big multisport clubs. Trabzonspor and Goztepe are almost as big as them.

Turk Hava Yollari, Nilufer and Ilbank are smaller multisports clubs.

Eczacibasi and VakifBank used to be a multisport clubs.

  • Trabzonspor did found a male volleyball team years ago indeed but it didn't last long, I think they relegated the year after. They don't have a history of investment in other sports besides football, so on paper they might have teams in other sports but they don't have culture and vision to invest in other sports. Also they have a terrible football fanbase known to be hooligans. So I am not sure if it is actually good news to have them in sultanlar ligi. Volleyball always had more educated/civilized audience but the profile is changing in recent years after these 'football clubs' started to invest in their volleyball teams

Hopefully it works out well for Trabzonspor as well. They had a men's team in 2015-16, but failed to be promoted in the semifinals and disappeared right after.

My point is that the league within a few decades may have a very strong structure and tradition with these kind of clubs.

We don't know what may happen to Vero Volley and Savino Del Bene if they will never succeed or to Imoco on the long run. Italian clubs close because they win it all and start to reduce the budget or because they don't win at all.

If you take a look to a 10 years old season of Serie A1, most of those teams don't exist anymore or left the pro activities to focus on their academies; this is Serie A1 2014-15:

      AGIL

      Bergamo

      Busto Arsizio rebranded as UYBA

Casalmaggiore relegated to A2 in order to survive

      Flero

      Forlì

      Imoco

      LJ

      River

      Robur Tiboni Urbino

      San Casciano rebranded as Firenze

      Savino Del Bene

Only 5 club are still active in Serie A1.

On the other hand, Sultanlar Ligi this season had 8 teams already playing 10 years ago + Canakkale, Ilbank and Yesilyurt playing in the second division.

      Beşiktaş

      Bursa BB

      Çanakkale in second division

      Eczacıbaşı

      Fenerbahçe

      Galatasaray

      İdman Ocağı

      İlbank in second division

      Nilüfer

      Sarıyer

      VakıfBank

      Yeşilyurt in second division

  • So president of Turkish federation just confirmend in the latest interviews that TL is not gone change the rule about no more than 3 foreign players at court. Maybe they will increase from 3+2 to 3+3.

  • There are rumours about Lozo playing as local status in Kuzeyboru since she just get married with a Turkish man. Is it really true? Can she be counted as local while playing in Serbian NT?:what:

Kuzeyboru has 5 foreigners including Lozo which is crazy considering they won't be playing in any European cups. So it might make sense indeed if Lozo can play as local otherwise she will spend the season at bench waiting Czyrnianska to have a bad day
