Turkey - Vodafone Sultanlar Ligi 2025-2026

  • Fener's actual debt is more like €350M, the rest are collaterals for credit. Galatasaray has more actual debt than Fener for example (in the €500M range). 90% of the debt is from the football division which is the largest and very reckless financially. It doesn't matter that much because Erdogan allows Turkish clubs to operate at levels of debt that wouldn't be possible for other clubs. Any Turks correct if I'm wrong.

    Thanks for the info

According to Google these clubs are publicly traded therefore they have to obey some rules, they have to have certain level of debt to value ratio. At least that is what I would think.

Sure but this is not like in other countries because the biggest banks in Turkey are state owned, Ziraat, Halkbank and VakıfBank. I'm not an expert I just follow football, but the president loves football and he's directed to government to support the clubs. They receive a ton of state support, especially the big 4. This is what I mean. I remember the banks did a huge deb restructure to alleviate the clubs for example. You don't get this elsewhere

I know Erdogan installed an authoritarian regime there, but sports actually benefited from his long rule. Besides, Turkey didn't have a democracy before, just a secular regime that didn't care about sports, which can be seen in the Turkish sports results until 2000. Where was volleyball in Turkey at that time? Their first major success in their sports was with the NT football team in 2000 and 2002. It might not have been the Erdogan effect yet, but state support for sports only grew year by year.

Yea public funding is kind of unmatched and it's better organized usually, private funding can also be very unreliable especially in this global economy.

  • so VB - Zeren Spor is about to begin. Its good to watch after a while and whole bunch of nonsense to read. :drink:

  • its Geoblocked again unfortunately, with vpn it works

  • Uzelac is having such a great season as an all around OH, it’s going unnoticed cause her efficiency isn’t great but Zeren lives and dies on her performance.

From serving and attacking to passing she does it all rly well.
