These are the names I can think of. Not who should be in the roster or would be in the roster. Just putting them here to help create this thread and open up a discussion.

  • Eda should retire soon and join the staff. We should prepare other MBs for 2028.

  • Do you think she can be Hande-level? She could be a potential replacement for Hande in the future. Although Hande has power. She could be an Alsmeier 2.0

Hande was too strong already when she was 18 etc. She was picked to the NT at an early age just because of her power and then played in GS as OH/opposite for the same reason. Her timing never improved but power was never Hande's problem and I think she put too much emphasis on improving in her receiving/defensive skills, which led her attacking skills to degrade to some extent.

With Lisa, it is the other way around. I am usually skeptical to young players missing the power and wilderness when attacking. Because they simply never develop in attacking, while young players with such attacking skills learn other elements of the game and get more balanced with age.

That also makes is funny since most volleyball experts say "It is easy to teach attacking to a player but hardest is to teach receiving".

  • I've ranked them based on their current shape in my opinion and marked the ones I think should play in VNL and the ones who should PROBABLY play in WCh

  • Is Liza Safranova promising? She is quite tall and young.

Liza is tall but not a strong attacker on the other hand she is surprisingly a decent receiver for her age and height. I expect her to be a taller version of Meliha/Şeyma kind of player. I have more expectations from İlayda Bianca Mumcular indeed. Anyone watched her in french league recently?

  • Not sure if Buse, Bukmen, Demirel deserve a spot in the NT. He definitely needs to try 1-2 sliders in the MB position though, since Eda should rest as much and I guess Jack makes sense.

Elif/Dilay and week after Cansu/Dilay can be a better rotation.

I also think Derya's spot is secured in the NT. She was always there and is needed in the main team since she is the best attacking option besides Vargas and Ebrar.

Competition for the OH position will be between Ilkin-Yaprak-Tugba and Saliha I think. I guess Hande's spot is also secured. I don't mind Ayse Curuk being +1t to be tested.

  • I would give Dilay as much experience as possible in vnl, I really think she should be the second setter in 2028 LA.

I don't think Derya's spot secured at all. I think Hande and Ilkin's spots are secured. Don't know what will happen with Ebrar. After last year's fiasco maybe better to keep her as second opp. Then other two OHs would be Tuğba/yaprak/derya/Saliha. Based on current shapes, it should be Tuğba/Yaprak in my opinion.

Ayşe cUruk doesn't have anything special as far as I see this season, I would invest in younger players like Melisa, Safranova, Bianka

Agreed on slider MB, I had high hopes for ayçin being our next slider but she is flopping since her injury. I guess jack would be a solution for transition period. Until Begum Kaçmaz is ready

  • Well if I think of a 14-player roster, then, am I the only one that thinks that Derya is the best spiker among OHs? Since you are taking Ilkin and Tugba, then you either leave Carutasu or one OH, which most probably come from either of these two names.

  • I think you nailed the list pretty well. Continuing the discussion, what did everyone think of Meliha's performance at the Olympics? For having not been that involved in the team that much since Santarelli's arrival I thought she came in clutch in several moments, especially in that Quarter Final vs China. She may not be the most offensively dominant and she is "older" compared to the other OH's (Ebrar, Ilkin, Tugba, Hande, Derya, Saliha who are arguably the top OH's from the NT. + the upcoming Yaprak probably.). Do you think we will see more of Meliha in the DS/OH role in VNL 2025/WCH? Additionally, Yaprak hasn't been named to any NT rosters or camps? Honestly, for an undersized OH she gets up there. How tall is she?

It depends on whether Santarelli wants to give it a try with Ebrar as OH or not. It worked perfectly in 2023 but she flopped badly in 2024 and she played as opp again whole season. So it is a hard call, I think Santarelli should make Ebrar play as full time during vnl to see if she could get in shape as OH before WCh.

So in the scenario Ebrar as OH it should be

    Opp: Vargas-Carutasu

    OH: Hande-Ilkin-Ebrar-Tugba

In the case Ebrar as Opp

    OPPs: Vargas-Ebrar

OHs: Hande-Ilkin-Tugba-Yaprak/Derya (both should play in VNL to claim their spot

Derya is a strong attacker but this season she hasn't been consistent even in offense while her reception is as tragic as always. It doesn't help that she is playing next to another weak receiver
