Türkiye Women's NT - 2025

  • Knee replacement surgery? She isn't 70 years old😂

She just had a meniscus tear, something like ana Cristina had last year she should be ready in June but not sure if she could be in shape to compete with other OHs in the roster

Matic Rojnik had knee replacement at 19. Sergio Poggio had it early on too (born 2000). Maybe it's more common with men.

Anyway I hope Tugba doesn't miss WCH

Of course you can name extreme cases for any medical condition but it still doesn't change the fact that knee replacement surgeries are done mostly 70+ individuals. It is not common with men. It is almost twice as likely for women due to osteoarthritis, fat/muscle ratio and their knee biomechanics. However it is very rare to have knee replacement surgeries before 60s unless individual is overweight, has genetic predisposition and have heavy cartilage loss. Tuğba's injury is very mild compared to knee replacement. Maybe other user meant ACL or something which is common among volleyball players

  • What happened again?

Not a very major problem. It is just the removal of the titanium or PLLA-HA screws, due to her ACL injury several years ago (around 2020), which were used for reconstruction. Thanks god, since then everything went very well and now is the time to remove them.

While doing this operation, she was also suffering from hernia at the belly side and had another surgery (herniorraphy) at the same time, in order to get rid of all issues.

It is estimated to take 4 weeks for recovery.

  • First tournament finished by Turkey.

    My opinion:

Aycin was Turkey's worst player in this tournament. Some people here like her, but she was below names like Yasemin and Zeynep Sude Demirel this season.

Saliha also didn't do well, but she had fewer opportunities. Honestly, I don't see her contributing much differently than that.

Alexia was just average. I honestly think she needs to try to attack harder and drop less.

    Simge Akoz was average.

Hande didn't do anything spectacular. I expected more from her.

Berka and Deniz were good surprises. I didn't even want Deniz to be called up and she showed that she can contribute.

    Yaprak played relatively well.

Eylul was a pleasant surprise. I saw her playing better than Simge.

Dilay played better than Elif. I believe she could be a great competitor for Elif and Cansu.

Ayse played little, but I saw her attacking relatively well, but I don't think she will get much time on the court.

  • purpose of the first week should be adding Yaprak, Alexia, Dilay, Deniz, Berka and Begüm to the main rotation. I dont think any of them can be starter this summer but they can be an option. This would be quite enough.

  • If we talk about volleyball, liking a player because of her personality or team belonging is purely subjective. If this clubbed with the performance, then we talk about different things.

I have studied on all 3 matches, recording all stats, which usually appears on a stats sheet. It looks really interesting.

Considering all above, yes Ayçin was a disappointment. I was expecting better from her but during the regular league season, she was also behind Yasemin and Timmerman at both attack and blocking. She continued with the same performance here as well. Considering all 3 matches with 10 attacks, 3 attack points, 2 errors and 1 blocked ending up with 30% Kill and 0% Efficiency . She scored 1 block point and from 21 serves, 1 error and 1 ace. Overall, finished with 6 points and 2W/L

Saliha was another surprise to get invitation, since it is obvious that, she is not for this level. She attacked with 23% Kill and 13% Efficiency, 4 reception error (highest of all) and around 20% Perf Rec, From 13 services 2 errors and 0 aces. Overall, finished with 7 points and -2W/L. She played full match against Germany.

About Alexia, we have different opinions. Overall, Alexia Attacked with 46% Kill and 34% efficiency, who meets the expectation of a good OPP (but yet not one of the best). She served 46 times with 7 errors and 6 aces (highest of all) and 3 blocks. She finished the tournament with 51 points and 33 W/L. Attackwise, she was very good at against Germany, not so good against Italy but good against Nederlands. Considering her regular season's performance which was 43%Kill and 30% Efficiency, she has done a good job in this tournament. The only point I can criticise in this tournament is; her blocking performance, which was below her average.

Most difficult is to judge/comment about Liberos performance. Simge's reception performance was not so bad with around 30% perfect reception after Hande and Eylül and she seemed to fulfill the expectations at digs. On the other hand, Eylül's perf. reception around 40% was soo good but particularly her digs were absolutely amazing. She was praised by Italian media and even by Santarelli however, it is too early to make a generic comment for her future. She is so young and very promising for the future. As Santa said, she has a great team spirit and during the regular season, we have witnessed this.

About Hande, she played 2 matches and bombarded by Italians. Received 44 times against them and managed so good with over 31% perfect reception and attacked with 40% kill and 30% efficiency, which is good after being targeted. On the other hand, she was not good against Nederlands which triggered her overall attack performance at a low level. Her overall attack performance in 2 matches is 35% kill and 20% efficiency which is not good but with 25 points and 14 W/L. She has room to do better.

Totally agree with your comment about Berka and Deniz. They are so talented and expecting them to grow higher. If they keep this consistency, definitely our middle will be in safe hands. The other point is, I was expecting Deniz in the wide roster and so good that she is there. Berka with 67% Kill and 56% Efficiency, 10 Points and 8 W/L + 3 Block Points. Deniz with 61% Kill, 50% Efficiency at attack and 18 Points and 14 W/L + 6 Block points. What a great performance for players, who played full time in 1 match only. Berka against Nederlands and Deniz against Italy.

Too early to say, Dilay played better than Elif. Their performance are more or less the same in scoresheet table and even Elif's performance is a bit higher however, more important is their contribution in quality sets which can be a bit speculative and may vary with the attackers they are playing with. Dilay needs more experience and also need time to compare.

Like Berka and Dilay, Ayşe played 1 full match and was so so. Against Italy, she came from bench and attacked 5 times, scored 1 point with 1 attack error. Besides, scored 1 block point. She was OK against Nederlands. She ended the tournament with the overall performance at attack, 37% Kill, %27 Efficiency with 12 points and 8 W/L.

Lastly, a couple of words about Aslı and Meliha. Aslı played in 2 matches and being the best blocker with 9 blocks, she was not so good as an attacker with 45% Kill and 20% Efficiency. Overall, she finished with 19 points and 9 W/L. Meliha was the only player, who did not play full time in any. Probably, it is the reason that, her overall performance seems to be sooo weak (still better than Saliha). 2 reception errors, 0% perf reception, attack kill 40% with 20% efficiency, 7 points and 2 W/L.

These are my overall observation, through the sheets I have created through the matches I have watched again and again and many records cross-checked with the Italian material VOLLEYBALL.IT

Anyone who would like to watch all 3 matches fully, you may find them in below posting. Quality is very good but without any commentator.
