Netherlands NT 2025

  • An idiot  It was ok to call Orthmann's ball a lift, but after that there have been at least 3 balls of Dutch team who were just the same and he allowed them, and to add a red card for some justified protests in a friendly match is just ridiculous.

A girl can't cook dinner or she'll miss a red card?! Damn :rolll:

  • What happened to Bongaerts btw that Lyklema was called last minute?

I think it was not specified (she was present at the match even) but it better not be something serious bc Hyke was.... her shaky self (playing with the other subs didn't help obviously). Let's just say I'd rather have Sarah + MB slide than double sub  fingers crossed Britt will play tomorrow

  • Based on the friendly matches I expect Hamming will be cut. I don't expext to see Knollema at WCH, but if she is healthy than one of Jansen/Vos will be cut. Jansen is the better receiver and Vos the better attacker. Especially with Hester Jasper injured having another defensive outside hitter with Jansen could be useful. Vos had some good moments during VNL, but she is really unstable and high error rate. On the other hand, she could also play as opposite. This could be useful if Dambrink doesn't perform well, because van de Vosse her performance has dropped a lot since first week of VNL...

Taking only 3 middle blockers to WCH could also be an option, but IMO not wise since we don't have Baijens and Lohuis. I would cut Gerritsen, but Koslowski seems to favour her over ten Brinke.

  • Almost a complete new team can be made of players who didn't quit NT but weren't on the longlist or not available/injured:

    S: -

    O: Plak, Scholten

    OH: Knollema, Marring, Savelkoel

    M: Lohuis, Polder, Baijens

    L: Jasper

Many of them would have been useful. Good thing about new WCh format is that we won't lose too many ranking points

  • I'd have to say Reesink had a pretty okay game for me as well (cant find stats so my impression might be very off).

Jasper is underdelivering a lot, but she already was in the friendlies so I hope she can get back into it, because Jansen struggles to much with killing a ball to play a full match imo and kok or vos will be a struggle on reception.

Dont think I have seen this much mental strength to come back in sets/ win a 5th set in quite some time, so that does make me happy

  • Not letting Bongaerts play in the third week of VNL was a big mistake! Van Aalen completely lost her head:pinch: Her decision making and location of her sets are tragic! Unfortunately Bongaerts lacks connection with all hitters, because she spent so little time training with them...

Also a shame Iris Vos isn't used as opposite during VNL of friendly matches, because it would be a solution with the current shape of Dambrink. Vos could help out in receive when needed.

  • Again not convinced by the starting 7 today in the first two sets. Reception isn't good and van Aalen wasting so many opportunities with her inaccurate sets...

Nice post-match interview with Marrit and Sarah. Let's hope they can keep this 'we got nothing to lose' attitude in the QF. Japan might not be the defending back-to-back world champion, but they've been doing great in VNLs lately and hold 4th place in world ranking (which might be anywhere from 3-6 depending on other QF results). Also that fast 0-3 sweep in Ottowa will be a reminder that where in the past NL did fairly well vs. Japan, times have changed
