setting Antropova and Skinner 70 percent of the offense is going to beat 95 percent of teams lol that’s actually the ratio I’d say she should be. I’m not setting Graziani or Bosetti lol
Even if it is true they will not beat the other 5% which is what matters at the end... This playing style has specific limits. What will happen if one of Skinner or Kate have a bad day? The team will collapse. Blame me as you want bad I am not sure if this duo as they play and being used right know is better than the last one.... Herbots and Mingardi shared the responsibility but Skinner is ONE and this makes things more predictable. As I said before if they do not bring Bosetti back to life ( or replace her ), the best thing that they could expect is to play in a final and that's all.
PS: Does anyone knows what is wrong with Nwakalor? Is she still injured?
What about Trambali? Is she healthy? I do not even remember her bring with the team.
I was in Busto yesterday. A very entertaining match. When Fahr came in light switched off for UYBA. Impressive performances by Obossa and Van Avermaet on Busto's side, Fahr and Haak for Imoco. Boldini was far better than usual, but keeping Seki on the bench is such a waste!
Bukilic didn't play well; in fact, I'd say she played poorly...
More than anything, she's unjudgeable: Morello ignored her for the entire match, serving her very few balls (4 or 5 per set) and almost all of them predictable and barely playable, which she wasn't able to handle in many cases...
Anyway, she wasn't the worst on the court: Morello and Villani were indecent, as were the middle blockers...
Morello might be worst Italian setter I've watched for a while. Her sets to middles were unhittable

It seems they are also not very satisfied with Franklin already. At least those are the whispers.

it's just Scandicci doing Scandicci...
No panic...

Nwakalor is still in rehabilitation mode after she suffered a multiligament injury on her left knee. When she first got injured they thought it was just 1 ligament but it turned out to be several torn ligaments.
It's Traballi btw no M

hopefully nwakalor recovers well and it doesn't become chronic

Didn't Bonifacio suffer the same thing last season? she couldn't play for most of it and had to decline NT invite ![]()

Bonifacio is very injury prone. Hopefully she remains healthy throughout the season.

That has to be the 50th time they say TRAMballi what's with the extra m in her name the last time too in the transfer discussion thread they kept repeating tramballi tramballi where are they getting that m from
Not Macerata finding a way to make credible a ragtag team like Cuneo... Still, both newly-promoted teams may have a chance to survive. As bad as they look neither the aformentioned Cuneo nor Firenze looked that much better compared to them.
Consolini is a lot better than Macerata and I think they will do better than Firenze later on. There's no way they're losing that Fenerbahce money![]()
3.5 reflections after week 1 (and only having time to watch Imoco and Milano)
1. Bosio was a great replacement to Orro. She’s fast, has great defense, is super athletic and is “that bitch”. She comes to play.
2. Conegliano obviously is looking for that rhythm again after a summer apart. The long summer for many of the players shows. Also, Fahr is a key ingredient to success - her speed in transition is elite!
3. My mind is twisted trying to figure out Lavarini’s substitutions with Gelin, Fersino. Fersino is libero for OH??? And Gelin subbed for mid?
3.5. Wtf - return to the bouncy molten? How awful to switch back and forth to Mikasa for CL and WCCH

I think you're referring to the same subbing tactic Imoco did two years ago with Bardaro serving for Fahr? It gives them an extra 2 rotations of a weak-backrow OH on the bench (especially if there's already another defensive specialist on the team doing a 3-rotation backrow sub!) ![]()

Lavarini doesn't believe in receiving of Lanier, so Gelin will replace a MB, and another OH will replace Lanier once and another OH will replace another MB.

Maybe Traballi is a little similar to Brambilla imo.

Bonifacio injured her ankle during the preparation for Paris OG. It took her some time to recover.
I think she declined the NT invite to recover her body from previous injuries and be fully prepared for club season.

She was such a game changer after She came in. 3rd set. Scoring 11 pts and having 4 blocks is great impact from MB (2,5 sets) . She gets a lot “hate” because She is often scoring MB instead blocking. But against Busto She showed everyone that She can be blocking machine.
Proving why She is one of the best MB right now, why She has so many awards in her pocket. And everyone forgot that Fahr is still 24 years old. And She won everything already.
I know it's super late to overview round one, but I can't help it, old habits die hard... ![]()
Positive vibes from UYBA, they played a pretty solid preseason but I couldn't figure if it was a fluke or there were some real basis on their performances. I don't think Obossa will be that effective until spring, but I must say they seem legit. The roster is quite balanced and it doesn't seem like they lost much of their qualities of the past season. Parra looks like an interesting transfer too, so playoffs should be realistic for them. Conegliano is quite rusty at the moment, if the returnees from the World Championship are understandably a bit out of form, the same can't be said for players like Chirichella or Lubian. Still, the amount of talent they have is enough to escape a tricky debut like this one.
One can take Scandicci out of the mess, but you can't take the mess out of Scandicci. Still, this season they seem much more balanced and competitive compared to last season. Having a pairing like Antropova and Skinner makes Ognjenović's life much easier (but she still tends to serve a bit too much the opposite), Ruddins is a bit of a jack of all trades, the Italians provides some back row depth and the girls in the middle are no joke. Gaspari has to work on mechanisms, but they seem more dangerous than I expected to be. The newly rebranded Monviso was a bit unlucky, not only because of yet another injury for Battistoni, but overall they played a nice game. Davyskiba and Malual provided a solid effort on offence, Dodson and Akrari seems a good pairing in the middle. On the other hand, D'Odorico confirmed she's not a starter material for a team that aims for the left side of the standings.
Sentenza_69 said pretty much everything about Firenze's performance and there's no need to rub it in. I just hope they'll have a less troubled season compared to last year, but one can tell a nice day from the morning... The same thing, on a much more positive note, can be said about a Potsadmesque Chieri. They kind of lost a set in a silly way, but when they were on they played some real good volleyball. Great game by Anna Gray, but I must say Sarah van Aalen looked much more comfortable with this fast brand of volleyball. Künzler and Nervini looks like a very promising pairing, Spirito just gives even more strength in the back row. I had the feeling both Németh and Cekulaev still haven't get completely used to the new team, but I do see them leading the best of the rest group by far.
Perugia changed a lot compared to last season and overall they seem weaker, but one of the positives surely is Gardini not being served out of the match. Another one is Recchia, she filled in for Sirressi just fine and held the back row decently. Still, the void left at opposite seems quite big and Perinelli's best days are behind her. Vallefoglia keeps having the bad habit of going five when unnecessary, but until Bici will be able to bail them out they might try to keep up with Chieri and try to lock down sixth place. The setters seem a step behind compared to last year and Omoruyi yet again found a way to underperform. A pity, because she started quite well, but faded away drastically in the closing phases of the match. It's just the first game though, I'll try to not jump into conclusions.
A much better Milano compared to the one seen in Courmayeur, less mistakes and much more defence. Egonu seems already in form and led valiantly the team, good effort from Lanier too and Piva did her bit for most of the match. Bosio has to improve the chemistry with the MB unit, because it's quite sloppy at the moment, but I don't see why she can't replicate the performances she had with Novara. I liked the way Fersino and Gelin shared the court, on the other hand I'm starting to have some serious doubts about a full recovery by Pietrini. I expected a bit more from Bergamo, but apart some combinations between Eze and Strubbe the team didn't steal my eye. The only reliable option on offence was Cesé, Kipp still has to adjust completely to the new system and Mlejnková struggled a lot.
Novara got the sweep, but less comfortably than I expected after the first set. Still, the roster is very balanced and interchangeable, which is good in terms of depth and freshness in the long term. Cambi is sharpening the connection with the attackers and Igiede is really working by the job. A pity she won't play the entire season, because she fitted in very nicely. Overall a solid debut by San Giovanni in Marignano, especially considering the lone Piovesan was a real threat on offence. Block-defence was quite good and helped in limiting the lack of an opposite (Ortolani, like many others before her, can't beat Father Time) and the absence of Panetoni.
How to Get Away with Choking, sponsored by Macerata. From almost getting the full package to gifting a win a two points to a rival in the race for survival, what a rollercoaster of comeback in Serie A1 for the hosts. Bonelli seems to have quicky found a solid connection with most of the attackers, but their reliability is questionable (Decortes wasted a match point quite naively). Considering they're not a powerhouse but they don't have giants around them, this loss can prove even more costly. Cuneo should erect a statue to Diop, because together with Macerata's collapse she's the main reason why the visitors came back home not empty-handed.
