Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2025/26

  • shaffmaster really got kicked to the curb hmmmm

oh well. hopefully she can leverage it into a good contract next year lol

In the long run Stuttgart is going to need both setters, Kästner playing so much right now probably is to enable her finding the rhythm with the team. But then, Kästner managed to make Grote look like Rivers for some parts of the match, so she's a bit ahead of Shaffmaster indeed I guess.

  • I disagree. For me, Dresden and Suhl are on a level. I could imagine them finishing the regular season with the same number of points, and then Dresden having the advantage in the semifinals because they have home advantage twice due to their higher number of wins.

  • Let's see if Dresden can get three points in Schwerin next week. Then we'll know more.

Schwerin looks like a dysfunctional team with many problems right now. Felix simply can't make up his mind about a starting six, there is rotation every game but it doesn't look like it's just to give everybody playing time. Artyshuk is a complete flop but IMO it's not even her fault because they keep trying to force her into a system that doesn't fit her playing style, she'll never be comfortable having to hit fast balls. Also Jaksetic's level this season is a major problem, IMO they should just go with Kohn as much as possible. And then, Reesink is never going to be a stable libero either

I agree completely. Nevertheless, I believe that Schwerin will not be a sure thing for the current Dresden team in their own arena.

  • It's all tactics from Felix to let the Dutch NT players rest up before NT season, how smart (jk)

I haven't been able to watch many Schwerin games yet this season (VBL or CL) but yeah, each week it seems like a new line up is put together. Please anyone post a reminder/link once they're the TV match, I'm curious to watch how chaotic they really are because I only see the snippets of successful points reposted on the girls' Insta stories :rolll:

Next Saturday Schwerin vs Dresden is the TV match.

It's not like they play terribly, but they just don't play like they should with this roster. However if they somehow manage to get their act together, they might as well end up winning the championship once again. Not that it looks very likely right now though, but you never know...

I completely agree with you. I can certainly imagine Dresden winning, but it will be anything but easy. The same goes for Suhl, especially since they have to travel to Schwerin shortly after the cup final.

So, my prediction is that Dresden's fate isn't currently in their own hands; they'll have to work hard to perhaps control everything themselves in a month.

  • Stuttgart newspapers report that there are big plans in Flacht. They want to have some full-pro players next year and 11-13 pro players in two years. They plan to triple their current budget of 250.000€.

I heard similar claims from the bubble from Flacht, sounds authentically.

  • Conclusion after yesterday's match day: The battle for places 2-4 is completely open.

Dresden currently has the worst starting position, but has the easiest remaining schedule and is expected to remain without further point loss.

Schwerin will therefore have to win its home game against Suhl and also pick up a point at home against Stuttgart to stay ahead of Dresden in the end. That will be a tough task. In addition, Schwerin cannot afford to drop any more points against supposedly easy opponents.

Suhl has probably the toughest remaining schedule of the three clubs, with only one home game left (against Stuttgart) and trips to Münster, Wiesbaden, Aachen, and Schwerin with a very thinly staffed squad.
